Nursing top to help discrete nursing of 16-mos-old

I am going to be doing some airplane travel on my own (yikes) with my busy and big ds (35 inches tall, 36 lbs, running everywhere, great nurser, doesn't want to be covered). I am looking into getting a nursing top that might allow for more discrete nursing, since my lo will not tolerate being covered with a blanket or such, often pulls my clothing around while nursing (making for lots of breast exposure), etc. I have one nursing top (motherwear) that I like in terms of ease of use. It is a wrap-around top, sort of low cut, pull to side to nurse. Even though it is easy to use and quicker to get him on than in a regular shirt, I am actually more exposed in this shirt than normal shirts. Do you have any nursing tops that you love and that help keep you covered? I have nursing tanks, but I find them harder to fiddle with then a bra in terms of keeping pads straight (yes, I still leak) and getting unhooked and such. I am also fairly large chested and the empire look is not flattering to my body-type. Would love to hear suggestions!!

I like to wear a stretchy, low V-neck shirt over a ribbed tank that I cut off just under my chest. So I can pull down the v-neck, pull up the tank, and unhook my bra. It gives me pretty good coverage.

good luck!

I usually wore a nursing camisole (from Target) under a button down shirt and for airplane travel. I'd button the top button so she could only pull off so much of my top. I would also usually wear a scarf of some type so I had a little piece of fabric to hold over anything if she was flashing me. She was never covered by the scarf, I just hovered it if necessary.

My outfit of choice for NIP comfort everywhere is this:
first layer: nursing bra
second layer: stretchy camisole with no supports
third layer: pullover shirt
fourth layer: cardigan

That way, I lift up the pullover shirt, pull down the camisole, unhook the bra cup, and that only exposes the nipple and the bare skin on either side of the nipple. Baby covers the bare skin on the cleavage side, and the cardigan covers the bare skin on the ribs side. And if baby pops off and I want to be covered, I can drop the pullover shirt or pull across a bit of cardigan.

My favorite NIP top and the only one I will wear for airplane travel with LO is the crossover top from Momzelle.

http://www.momzelle.com/details/16/warm-crisscross

It is flattering and non-bulky, unlike most of the nursing tops I have tried.

There is only one layer of cloth but it is sewn as two crisscrossing bands. You can peek your nipple out between the bands and only show as much or as little boob as you like. Very easy, no fiddling.

The only issue is it is sometimes easy to leave a little gap between the bands when you're done nursing so your bra might show. I solve this by always wearing the same black nursing bra with my black crossover top, so even if it shows a little nobody can really tell.

I am a nursing top drop out LOL...I just bought some belly bands off of ebay with the hope that I can use them to cover my tummy area when nursing without the hassle of having to fiddle with a nursing top. Not quite what you are talking about but I have never found a nursing top that I didn't find a PITA to fiddle with sadly so this is the best I can do.

The brand I found seems pretty reasonably priced $20 for 4 so hopefully they are good enough quality for my purposes (they haven't yet arrived but the seller has good feedback so I am hopeful). Here is the link.

This isn't an outfit thing, but when we flew across country I was sitting across from some curious teenagers and so I rigged up one of those blue blankets they give you, stretching it behind the tray table (in the closed position) and behind the head rest of my seat. Made an excellent curtain.
