I know that babies are often sensitive to the flavor of bitter. They don't mind some, but if you take TOO much, they might not want to nurse. You could try. Are you taking them as a pre-eating digestive aid? I don't do Swedish Bitters, as they have an added laxative ingredient, but I take regular "tincture" bitters, which sounds like what you have.

WHen I've taken it before meals, I sometimes take just 5 drops, in water, swish it around in my mouth for a minute or so, because it's through the taste buds (and possibly other sensors in the mouth) tasting the bitter, that it sends messages to the stomach about making the right juices for what's coming down.
I would think most babies could handle 5 drops. But if you're scared, you could try 1 drop, and less water. You get to experiment, and know that if your nursling doesn't like it, it won't last forever. And if nursling does like it, what a great way to introduce a bitter flavor into the diet through breastmilk!

No Way! Too strong for baby, and can detox mamas milk to baby.

I am having digestive issues and my nutritionist is recommending either supplementing with HCL or bitters. I would rather do bitters because I think that it would be more natural than HCL supplement. Not sure though.

What are the ingredients for your Gaia bitters? You could try to get just dandelion root tincture.
Dandelion root is a gentle bitter, and you could use it alone, and it won't hurt your nursling. I know that HCL is also helpful, though I have never taken it.
