Pooping, not thinking, that is.
A little background...We got a rescue cat a few months ago. He's about five years old and was substantially overweight. The rescue had a couple of hundred cats roaming around and just kept food out all the time, so he ate all the time. He's been losing weight slowly now that he's being fed a normal amount. We got two cats at the same time, but we've tried keeping him isolated from the other cat, and it makes no difference.
The cat will not poop in the litter box with any consistency. He urinates in it just fine, but will poop in other places if he can get away with it.
We've tried unscented litter with Cat Attract sprinkled on, as per the Cat Attract instructions. We keep the box clean. We've tried confining him in a very small space with the Taj Mahal of litterboxes. If he can find other way to avoid the litter, he often will.
If anybody has suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I'm at the end of my rope with this guy.
