Last weekend, my 3mo was lying on a mat playing with a toy. I left the room for a minute and when I came back in he was totally still, eyes open. I ran in and shook him. He felt limp for a split second, but then started moving again and was fine. Afterwards, I wasn't sure if I caught him not breathing or if he was just focused on something and still or had fallen asleep with his eyes open. It was the limpness for the second that really got me though, but he was fine the rest of the day and it didn't happen again all week.
But then yesterday, I was holding him with his head on my shoulder, chatting with a girl friend and he had fallen asleep. For some reason, I felt I needed to look at his face, but when I held him up, his eyes were closed and he was totally limp again. I shook him and yelled his name, and he seemed to sort of wake up but stayed in a really really deep sleep. Afterwards, again, I wasn't sure if he had really stopped breathing or not. Maybe he's just a really sound sleeper?
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else?
