Would you go?

So I may have an opportunity to travel to a conference for work in April. It's definitely not required, and if I don't go I'm not in danger of losing my job or anything. But it does look interesting, and the past 2 times it's been offered I've either been pregnant or nursing, and with the new baby due in August I probably won't be able to go the next 2 years, either (actually I can't remember if it's a yearly conference or every-other-year, but either way I wouldn't go to the next one offered). I'd be gone minimum of 4 days with travel, possibly 5. Older DS is 5, younger DS will be 21 months at that time. I ran it by my daycare provider just for another mom opinion and she's like "OMG GO!! The kids will be fine!!" But I worry! WWYD?

Go. A break would be healthy for all involved.

Definitely go! I'm going to a required work conference in March, I'm dragging DH along to care for DS since he is a baby. I already made arrangements for my 7 year to stay behind, and have been on the fence about the 3 year who has never been away from DH and I, but adores Grandma, I'm leaning towards leaving her.

Absolutely I would go. I find conferences refreshing. My whole outlook changes - I'm more committed and energized about my career, DH is even closer with our daughter and I'm get a nice break.

I even brought my mom to one once and she stayed in the hotel room and took my 3 yo daughter out to museums every day.

I would actually approach the powers that be and *ask* for it. If you've turned down the opportunity the past two times, they may pass you over this go-round. The squeaky wheel and all! Have fun!
