Constant bladder infections

I'm hoping you all might have some suggestions.

My mom is 67 yo and for the past several years, she's had chronic bladder infections.

It seems every other week she's at the lab giving a specimen to see if she has another infection.

She has been taking a ton of antibiotics over the past couple years to try to deal with the chronic bladder issues.

She has had a prolapsed uterus that she had repaired 2 years ago and she's had a few issues from that (some of the mesh popping through the vaginal wall. But, the Dr. doesn't think that's the cause of her issues. They have run some tests and the know that she doesn't fully drain her bladder but, they don't think that's the cause of the constant infections.

So, I'm looking for any thoughts or ideas. She is constantly dealing with this - the constant urge to pee, only tiny bits coming out etc.... and she's miserable. Any ideas?

For one, to make it easier on her, you could order test strips online and she could do the test strip herself and see if she needs to go into the doctor, if getting to the doctor is a pain. (I suffered from constant UTIs for 8 years.)

I have a nerve issue that makes it so that I have urinary retention as well (and that is enough of an issue to keep getting infections). I drink lemon in my water all day long. It keeps the urine alkaline, and less hospitable to bacteria. I haven't had an infection since September (and when I say constant, each year, I was only NOT on antibiotics for about 3-5 days out of each year).

My best friend who is 55 has constant UTI's. One of the contributing factors she had a total hysterectomy at 50. She never had the problem before. She was tested and her estrogen level was way low. So she is on lose dose estrogen cream and a lose dose antibiotic. This seems to be helping her. Her mother also has the same problem and she is 70, so she is using this regime too. Hope that helps.
