Thank you! Our son will remain intact!

Thread Starter
I just wanted to say thanks to this group. Because of the threads I've read and the web sites and research they have pointed me to, my son will remain intact.

My DH was more for circumcision when we started talking about it. But, last night I told him more of why I didn't want to have it done (based on what I've learned from here) and he's OK with not doing it now! I don't think he even realized what the surgery entailed. I'm SO GLAD I did this research before my boy arrived!

Thank you everyone!

You know, there are times when I have a totally defeatist attitude about circumcision. Sometimes it just seems like everyone around me has their fingers in their ears, singing "lalalalala". Reading things like this is what reminds me that speaking out against it IS worth it.. even if we only change just one mind at a time. So, thank YOU for posting and reminding those who frequent this forum that we really do make a difference.

Wonderful!!

Great job doing the research and getting your facts straight. Sound slike you have a good DH who is willing to think.

Best wishes!

Yay for MDC and all the great info and members here!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm sure your son will be happy with your decision!
In case you don't already know, all you need to do to clean his penis is just wipe the outside like a finger. Make sure a doctor never tries to retract your son.

Congratulations! And thanks for letting us know, it really is so heartening to know that we're not just whistling Dixie to ourselves.

If some post or story really touched you and created an "Aha!" moment, print it and scrapbook it so that when your son is 17 and says "Thanks, Mom, how did you and Dad know to protect me when so few of my friends' parents did?" you can show him how much thought and love you put into making his arrival pain-free and healthy for the long term. I think any child is interested in knowing that his or her parents actively talked about important baby decisions, rather than just "went with the flow". Even better if you have mementos!

Thank you everyone!
Good for you for researching the topic of circumcision before the birth of your son! Now if only ALL the physicians and Medical Associations in the USA did as much research as you and came to the same conclusion! Can you imagine the positive effects it would have on ALL newborn little boys and the men they become?

I don't think the OP should count on her son initiating any penis-related conversations when he is 17.

But if you do decide to scrapbook an anti-circ post, OP, please please please bring out the scrapbook to show to his prom date.

good news, OP!

and i would second (or third or whatever) the idea that this IS a valuable forum. i'm infrequently on here... but when our son was about to be born in september, i was around a lot more. you all helped me to "hang tough" when my husband was adamently pro-circ. i was able to effectively retort the doctor's assertion that circumcision reduced infections, when my husband put the OB on the spot with asking his opinion on circumcision.

seems like there are quite a few of you who are on this forum regularly and you always take the time to answer individual's questions and concerns and it seems you are willing to write out long answers filled with many facts and links... quite a service for the cause!

yes, you are saving little boys, one (lucky) guy at a time!

thanks from me, too!
