Kenya/Rwanda

Hey,
I'm pretty sure I saw, on here somewhere, a link to vaccine requirements for different countries? I can't seem to dig it up again, but I do seem to remember that yellow fever was not required if a child was under 1 year. DD and I are going to be in Kenya/Rwanda when she's 15-16 months old. She's completely unvaccinated, and I'm not feeling the need to get anything done just because we're going to Africa. BUT, I do NOT want to get to Rwanda and be either denied entry or forced to give my babe a vaccine of sketchy origin in order to leave the airport.
I was vaccinated for everything under the sun as a teen, before I had really thought about the whole vaccine issue, and am mostly still covered. I do carry my vaccine book when I travel, but I have actually never had to present it despite living, working, travelling and studying on three different continents over the years. I don't want to do nothing with dd and just hope for the best, cause it would be seriously awful to count on not being asked for proof and have it all blow up in my face!
We will by flying into Kenya, and then driving into Rwanda, and flying out of Rwanda at the end. I've crossed the Rwanda/Congo border before, and actually didn't even get seen by the guard - a friend took all five of our passports in, got them stamped and we were on our way. I think I'm a little more relaxed about the land crossing, but the air arrival has me a little more worried.
Is there a way to get an exemption? Should I carry a dose of yellow fever with me, so that if I'm forced to give it to dd it will at least be coming from a half-safe source? If I'm going to have to give it to her, I'd rather do it here in Canada and treat her with homeopathics/detox (what? how?) than to do it in the airport in Kenya, or at the Rwandan border. What to do, what to do?!

Suggestions?
Thanks.

They do require yellow fever, however, I have never in years of traveling to those countries, been asked to provide evidence of the vaccine. If you have the yellow fever vaccine you can bring your card for proof just in case, but I don't think they will bother you about the baby.

Hi Selkat,
We're traveling to kenya this summer and i don't plan on getting my dd this vax. I have traveling in and out of kenya several times adn have never been asked for proof of vaccination.

If I'm asked about my dd, i'll probably just say she had it but we don't have her records with us. i'm guessing they won't push the issue, but i'd be shocked if we were even asked.

especially since there have been no cases of yellowfever in kenya in the past few years.

on another note, i would love to know why you decided to leave your kids unvaxed. my dd will be 18 months when we travel. she is unvaxed right now, but we are trying to decide whether we should get her any....i'd love to hear your perspective!

Thanks!

They only require this if one is travelling FROM a country that is at risk of yellow fever transmission. I think OP said they are from Canada which is not an at risk country. To OP go and don't worry about it!
