Natural-ish laundry detergent spoiled?

We've been using the liquid laundry detergent from Trader Joe's for years now. I buy the large jugs and often have an extra or two on the shelf because it's about 50 miles each way to get there. I think the detergent is lavender-scented but it's very light.

Lately, though, when I open the jug (I'm down to the last bottle on the shelf) it stinks and I can't put my finger on what the smell is. My clothes come out not smelling of anything bad but the soap itself is awful! Also, it seems to have coagulated - it's not smooth any longer but gloppy.

Do you think it's possible for it to spoil? What else could it be?

I've been wondering the same thing.
I buy my laundry detergent in large quantities when on sale and always have several bottles stored - sometimes for over a year but have never had a problem. I use Bi-O-Kleen.

However, I purchased a gallon of CA Baby wash for my kids. It is in one large jug with a pump and I am afraid it is going 'bad' - it has a slight odor no change in texture. Considering there are no parabens or other chemical preservatives I'm guessing it can go bad.

I may need to change my stockpile style of shopping. It doesn't save money if it goes bad.
