I charge $25/day for kids up to two years old. The rate goes down to $18/day after that. And my prices are a bit high for the area I'm in. Childcare providers have to walk a thin line between making enough money to make it worth your while and having an affordable price for parents to pay for childcare.

If you consider the fact that you could potentially take on more children at $30/day, your hourly pay goes up. I work a 50 hour week, sometimes more and my hourly pay comes to about $7.30/hour. And I'm wayyyy over-qualified for that pay. However, I consider the fact that that is all take-home. I don't pay for health insurance (I'm on my husband's insurance plan), I'm not having any taxes taken out of my check, and I don't pay for childcare.

Personally, I don't consider my hourly pay. I just know how much money I need to bring into the household to make it work. As long as I'm able to make enough for that, I'm happy.
