Brother 1034D 3/4 Lay-In Thread Serger

I'm looking at purchasing this serger and I'm wondering how many layers of cloth it can sew through without choking?

I'm planning on sewing diapers and postpartum pads (I live in an area with no garbage service) and my regular plain sewing machine is getting old (almost 40 years!) and tends to choke up on anything more than three or four layers of flannel.

Also, can this serger be used to sew cuffs on sleeves and pants?

I have it and I have made dipes and mama pads with 3 thick layers (bamboo or hemp fleece) or several thin layers (hemp jersey, velour, flannel).
I also have done cuffs, but not on kid size clothes.
