Honey

I am soooo thankful that I looked to these forums when I realized I needed a new skin care routine.
I had remembered the oil cleansing method but was just not that excited about it.
But when I read about the honey from some of you, I thought I could try it.

Last month, my skin became very red, dry and flaky.
I have never had dry skin (on my face). I have oily skin. I figured it was genetic since both of my parents still have oily skin in their 60's. I just turned 39 and I have been using the same skin care routine for over 10 years. Very simple and cheap (since there is no other choice). But something changed and my skin was awful.
So, about a week ago I started wasking my face with honey.
I love it !
I knew the answer to my skin care crisis would be simple and natural.
Instead of the 3 step routine I had been doing, I know have one, sometimes 2.
I wash my face with honey and then if I feel like I need it (or when I remember), I spritz with rosewater. I have even used honey as a spot treatment for the pimples I had when I started this.

I'm also using the honey on my neck and chest, which has never seemed "right" with any soap I have used and I am very pleased with the results

Glad to hear it! I've been using honey for about 4 years and haven't had a problem with dry skin since.

This is interesting! I've never heard of washing with honey, although I do use a honey mask from time-to-time. What is the procedure? (I hope that's not a dumb question!)

there is a post here called 'Wash your face with honey!' that has pages of good things to say. I have been using raw honey for probably 5 years, and it is awesome, just awesome. my face feels clean (I don't need the 'squeaky' feeling) and i use a very light moisturizer when i need it, usually wintertime only. i used to use moisturizer twice a day, and that was with a 'gentle' face cleanser from a box store.

to wash with honey, i put a big glob on my damp hand, scrub it on my face for 10-30 secs, depending on how much time i have, and rinse (and i might stick my tongue out a little to get a taste as it washes off, ha!). it leaves no stickiness. it is much easier in the shower b/c if you are washing over the sink and get it in dry hair it is hard to get out!

i do remember it stinging around my nose a little when i started but that went away. and DON't get it in your eyes, ouch!

Another honey convert chiming in here. It's great and I feel great about saving the money on expensive cleansers.
