For those who have had your cycles return...

DS is almost 20 months and I still haven't got my cycle back yet. A few months ago, I had some cramps for a few days and then nothing. Now I've had cramps for a week and they definitely feel like period cramps, I'm hoping that it means I'll be getting it soon. (Not pregnant, I took a test just in case)

Did anyone else experience the cramps before getting your period back? C'mon mamas, give me some hope that we can work on #2 soon

Nope, just crazy nipple pain when nursing. I thought there was suddenly something wrong with my baby's (9 mos.) latch, but after my period returned I realized my nipples hurt every time I ovulated.

Yes, significant back / abdominal discomfort. The first 1-2 post-partum AF were really rough, as my cycle started to get back on track. Sore nipples, low supply, even queasy stomach, I started wondering if I was pregnant again (negative). It's gotten more and more "normal for me" in the year since then.

Yeah, I've had it for weeks now - that feeling that my period is imminent but it never shows. I even tested, too, wondering if I could be pregnant. According to Take Charge of Your Fertility (the charting bible) it's because your body needs a certain estrogen threshold for your cycle to come back and it may take a few "tries" to get there.
I'm getting impatient - not to mention cranky, bloated and sore nipples when I nurse.

This was me, at 11 months. The pain was horrific, much worse than when I got my period. I got my first pp AF at 11 months with both kiddos and have nipple soreness before I got my period. Ironically, the cramps I have had since I gave birth to #1 are SOOO much less than pre motherhood cramps. I always kind of wonder if it's because I gave up tampons and use mama cloth... i use to have awful cramps, like stay in bed and call in sick cramps.

Not exactly answering your question (because TBH I can't exactly recall-it's been a while since I had a first PP period) I DO remember seeing signs of ovulation for a cycle or two before I resumed menstruating. With both my DD's I began my cycles again around a year post-partum (and they both nursed day/night for much much longer than that).

I didn't get cramps but I did feel like I was pregnant (felt really hungry and bloated for a while) and took a test (negative) AF returned the next month.

Now my cycle is only 15 days is this normal?

NJKim, I just wanted to say I'm right where you are, minus the cramps. DS is 19 months, and while I'm not ready to start on #2 yet I have this irrational fear that my cycles will never return!

I had intense cramping before I got my period back. AF returned 15 months pp for me.
