I would like to make some wool dryer balls out of a wool sweater I found at the flea market. Has anyone done this? Do they work?? Any tips??

Yes they work. You'll need 3-8 of them, ime, to eliminate static and speed drying time.
there is a tutorial on line somewhere about sewing balls from recycled sweaters.
I go to hobby store and find the cheapest HANDWASH wool yarn I can find. Cut up sweater into smallish pieces. Wad it into a ball. Wrap yarn around it. Add another piece of sweater. Wrap more yarn. Repeat, repeat until yarn is gone. Then take a crochet hook and weave the end piece of yarn in several times. Put balls in a pair of old hose or laundry bag. Tie yarn around hose to separate them. If you don't separate them they may felt together. Do several hot washes/cold rinses. I usually do a hot wash w/ towels or sheets and then leave them in the washer for several loads. Dry.
