I have a question, and sorry if it's a silly one I understand why it's best to wait to gather your things on the day of the map making. But is it ok to start a list of things I am thinking of putting on the map or is it better to just leave it swimming in my head and hope that I will remember them on the day? (My ADD makes remembering things difficult and so I tend to make lists a lot! ) And I'm assuming it's ok to get your supplies like glue, posterboard, etc beforehand.
You can make a list. I would just let your brain start to roll around with ideas and let what comes up comes up. But remember no matter what you think you want right now or between now and April 15 is fine. But once the new moon starts you will see a shift in the energy. You could very well, want those same things but it will feel different. And yes, you Do NOT build your map before Aries New moon.

Ok so ON Aries New Moon we will actually go out and get magazines and START looking??? Or we will have already done that by the new moon??? Are you saying that we should wait for the shift and then create our maps?
Maybe I should go back and read the old threads

If you are going to buy new magazines and supplies or if you are going to down load images etc... please do NOT do it until after the Moon is New.

Between now and then you can mull over stuff and start thinking about stuff and do whatever you do to clear out stuff and get inspired..but you should NOT think, "I'll get ahead of this and get it going before New." that misses the point. We have to ride the wave that begins on NEW.

if you are going to have friends give you magazines, you can collect before NEW but do not open them. Put them to the side and 'crack' them after new moon.

Subbing... this sounds really cool!

I'm so excited I found this in time.
Missed it last year...

I'm wondering what advice seasoned Treasure Map Makers would have with regard to the "be careful what you wish for" issue. I can get totally detailed and very specific, but then I chicken out and wonder if I should be the one that decides that detail. What if I choose something that actually isn't in my/our best interest and mess everything up??

For example, we rent a house that has some issues. It's a fixer upper, and it has tick issues (6 out of 7 of us have contracted Lyme disease shortly after we moved her less than a year ago). But I love it here! I want this house, I want it to work out that we wind up buying this house, and that we fix it up just the way we want it and do what needs to be done to control the tick problem. I feel home here - for the first time ever. But, since we lived here its been so much work (in terms of daily life, not fixing things)! Very intense things have happened to us, immediately after we moved in and it hasn't stopped yet. I wonder if this is where we are supposed to be, and am I qualified (for lack of a better word) to make the decision to put things in motion to stay here? Am I ready to deal with the "consequences" of being here?

How do you all deal with that kind of an issue?

If you wanted to address this before TM time you could just do some kind of affirmation requesting clarity. I always have a hard time coming up with affirmations. But the word clarity came to mind strongly. You could ask for clarity about your current living situation. Clear out the clutter and attachment and be open to receive any answer the universe provides.

Monkeyprincess,
that is why I always make sure that the overall tone of the map is connected to my higher power, god, universe, spirit....so that the right thing is always the RIGHT thing. and I don't get too bogged down that I will go for the wrong choice anyway. That is the reason why we need to do it with Aries New Moon. We take the time between now and then to chuck the things that we think we want by the time we get to TM time our goals will be in alignment with spirit.

i promise.

Great idea! Clarity sounds lovely, right now.

Thanks, Tracy.
So, do you just KNOW that what you want is the right thing? How do you go about connecting the tone of your TM with God/Universe/Spirit? Prayer/meditation/etc during this time, before the Aries New Moon? An actual visual representation on the TM?

Sorry, I've just seen how powerful this can be and I due to my current circumstances, I am just a little worried about if I going/taking things in the right direction.

I'm pretty minimalistic when it comes to stuff, and right now I am working on simplifying our life (commitments, daily schedules, etc.) wth the goal of a calm, peaceful home.

As far as things I want to get rid of, those darn spirochete carrying ticks would be first on the list. How would I go about visualizing that on my TM?

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

MonkeyPrincess, I am also scared about the "be careful what you wish for issue." I just started thinking, "What if what I ask for affects someone else in a negative way?" Remaining connected to Spirit, I'm sure, will help me to figure this out. But I'm still scared...

When I was making my map for 2008, Dh was between jobs, we were between homes and we had no idea where we were going to go. I had fairly specific ideas in my head about where I wanted to live, but I knew that DH absolutely did not want to move to that place. So instead of concentrating on a specific town I focused on the type of place I wanted to be in. I put pictures of a large, grassy yard, families riding bikes on tree lined country lanes, I drew the type of house I would have liked, and wrote phrases about the neighborhood I wanted to be in - close to park, walking distance to DH's work, shops and a library friendly neighbors etc. That way I wasn't trying to "force" the outcome or go against my DH's desires - I just hoped for the best outcome possible and tried to stay positive.
All of that came to fruition, although I can't say we are in our dream town nor that DH found his dream job, so I have to focus more on that this time around. Within a year DH's job will end here and we will have to move again.

I'm in. As usual!

This year had been a big fat bust for me, so far. I am cleaning and decluttering as I go - and hopefully will have things in a great space for treasure mapping. But wow, least fruitful year ever!

I am looking forward to it as usual!

MonkeyPrincess....Plaid Leopard said it best. Go for broad strokes. You can't miss with that angle.

I have been treasure mapping the past few years (MDC was the first I had heard of it) and have gotten some great results, esp. this past year. A lot of things on it came true...

1. I had a picture of a painting of a girl reading that I really liked and it reminded me of myself so I put it on my map. A couple of months later I walked into my Mom's house and saw that exact painting. She told me she had just bought it for me and it reminded her so much of me...she had never seen or heard about my Treasure Map so there is no way she could have known. It was so crazy!

2. I had pictures of running on my map and now I have a treadmill and am starting to jog...I never thought I would be able to afford a treadmill and with 2 small kids I don't think I would have the time to go out of the house to run so having a treadmill is perfect.

3. I had a lot of images of prosperity and we have had a lot of blessings financially this past year.

There are a lot more things that have come true as well. It has been a really cool year overall. Lots of hard times but some really good times too. I can't wait for the 2010 treasure map!!! Right now I am working on purging junk and decluttering to get in a good space mentally and physically in time for the treasure mapping!!

I have had a few questions but as I read they are all being answered

Thanks mamas.

i so need to try this.

just to make sure, it's OK to think about things but not to start listing anything. correct? we should not even be looking at pictures of what we might want?

If you go deep into the Mapping thread, you may still be able to see examples of the maps that some of us created. Many choose a posterboard size map. I needed something portable so I put mine in a big scrap book on 9 sheets of different color of paper. Some use a layout like the Bagua Map in Feng Shui, others just go with what feels right. It's all very open to personal interpretation.

I think in the beginning of the '09 Preparing thread Tracy goes more in-depth as to what we need to be doing at this point so that we will be ready when mapping time comes.
could you give more details about making it portable, what colors you used, why those colors, why 9 sheets, etc? i'm in a very disrespectful relationship (don't need husband seeing it or telling his $%#% mother about it), plus will be trying to sell the house so i need something that's not sitting out. thanks!
