I'm sorry you're having this experience. It doesn't sound pleasant at all. I experienced quite a painful letdown with my ds. It did subside over time though and by six or eight months it was noticable, but not painful. As for the nausea, although I didn't experience it myself, I have heard of others that feel this way. Hopefully somebody on this board will be able to help you out.

I get hot flushes when I nurse, and often feel like I'm about to faint just before I have a letdown. Sometimes gulping cold water helps. I don't know if you'd want to do that if you're nauseous.
What you've described sounds horrible. Kudos to you for sticking it out! I wish I had some advice. I just hope it subsides for you soon!

candy

When my baby nurses I feel nauseated as well. I have no idea why it happens, but if I suck on a peppermint or a ginger hard candy it seems to help.

me, too! to a lesser extent than what you are describing though. when my babies start to nurse i would feel a gross wave of nausea for the first minute or two... much more so if i have just eaten. then it fades for the rest of the nursing session, though i still cant eat while nursing. the first few weeks post partum i would get gaggy when my babies would nurse, but eventually it was just nausea and no actual gagging.

did you have hyperemesis with your pregnancy? i did, both time (i have two sons), and the nausea feels the same as my pregnancy nausea, though it only lasts a minute instead of 9 months!

anyways, if it helps at all it went away entirely by the time my first son was 6 months old, and he went on to nurse until he was almost three. my second is almost 4 months old and im still feeling a bit pukey when he starts to nurse but im hoping it will go away eventually like last time.

The nausea I had while nursing (I nursed DD until 4, and am now lurking because I'll be nursing again in about six weeks) was related to blood sugar for me. I always knee that, if I got nauseous while nursing, I wasn't eating enough. Sometimes it's hard to eat as much as you need to--it seems like an unbelievable amount of food!

I know oxytocin causes both the nausea and the letdown. I wonder if I am just more sensitive somehow to it, or that I have more than other people? It's so weird. Both times I was pregnant, I literally knew I got pregnant right away. I was sure of it by about day 6 after conception. My sense of smell changed right away within a couple days. So I definitely think there is something unique about how I react or feel my hormones changing.

Are you drinking enough fluids? Because dehydration will cause nausea and moodiness. I am not sure about the pain. But I am wondering if you are not properly hydrated and fed. How is his latch? I know that babies can get lazy with latching over time and have to be kept on their toes.

yeah me too. i think that my hyperemesis was somehow related to this. i knew that i was pregnant right away. i also have reacted very strongly to birth control pills... normally im pretty even keeled but a month or so on any birth control pill makes me loose it... depression, scary thoughts, the works. i guess i am just very, very sensitive to hormones. thankfully i havent had any problems with PPD!

but enough about me... i hope that YOU start to feel better soon. if your pattern follows mine at all the nausea will slowly get less intense and eventually be GONE. hope this the case for you.
