Can I compost muffin cups?

Can I put muffin wrappers that have been colored with who knows what to have little pictures on them in my compost. I don't really use my compost for anything so I'm not too worried about the quality but just wondering if there is any reason not to throw them in?

they're paper, so i would go ahead and do that.

My son's nursery school does...they break down very quickly too.
