How do you get real toning results when you work out?

We all know how frustrating it is when you go to the gym, but don’t see your body changing. It can be discouraging to do all that hard work and not see any physical change. What can you do to see real results when you work out?

I lift heavy weights to build muscle. Many women are afraid that they'll look masculine or too bulky, so they keep the weights too low and that doesn't do anything.

Definitely lift weights as well as doing cardio. I second (third?) pp's on going with heavier weights (I'm thinking for example bicep curls with 20 lb barbells, nothing too drastic). That will tone you, but you need cardio for heart health and fat loss so your new muscles will show

weight bearing exercise (weights, etc) in combination with the right amount of cardio, in combination with the right amount of calories, in combination with the right combination of nutrients (macro and micro).

it's a whole system of living, honestly.

Between having my kiddos I got in great shape by doing interval training. In my own living room with workout dvds (i acually used my cables on demand)
combining cardio with weights/squats/pushups and doing high reps with low weights. I slimmed right down and looked toned (but not muscular or super defined)

I recommend Jackie Warner or Jillian Michaels They will whip you right in shape in just 20 minutes per day! Anyone can fit that into their schedule without trudging to the gym.

Everyone here is right. Youneed to lift heavy weights to build muscle, and you need to eat right and burn calories (ie, cardio) to reduce your body fat so those muscles you've built can actually show.
