My girls were both born at 40+ weeks, but I never really had any strong feelings about when they'd be born (wishful thinking is another thing ). But this time, from about 10 weeks on I've felt like this baby is going to come earlier, and even though I try NOT to be (knowing how hard I take those last few weeks as it is!), it's as if my mind is REALLY confident about it. I try to keep quiet about it for the most part, though, because I don't want to feel stupid if I'm way off. So that leads me to wonder, for anyone who's really felt like their baby was coming sooner or later than around their estimated date, how did it turn out?

eta- sorry, I meant to make it so people could answer more than once. I hate not being able to edit polls!!!

I felt like DD would come around 36-38 weeks... mostly because I started having contractions then. I had her 3 days before she was due.

I voted other. With my first child I fully expected that I would go 40+ weeks. In fact, my mom is a midwife and she and my dad planned a trip that took them out of the country about 4 weeks before my due date, but we all thought this would be fine because we assumed I'd be around 10 days "overdue." So in my mind I was preparing for December 12th or so (DD was the 2nd) and I was completely shocked and totally unready when my water broke on November 3rd and she was born on the 4th!

With my second, I did have my previous experience to go by. But my older one was healthy and not seriously premature, and needed no NICU time, so there was no reason to think her sister would be really early. Still, very early on in my pregnancy, like before I started having BH contractions or anything, I went to the bookstore. While there, I picked up the Dr. Sears Premature Baby Book and had this very clear moment where I just knew I should buy the book because I would need it. Then I felt I was being silly, so I put it back. My younger daughter ended up being born at 33 weeks, and did have a short NICU stay. So I did end up needing that book!

With DD1 I thought I would hit 42 weeks. No babies in my family come early. Plus, I had some wonky sono at 38 weeks and they said she was going to be lucky to hit 6lb by 40 weeks. At my 40w3d appt I was 0cm dial and 0%eff. She can the next day and was over 8lbs.

With DD2 I thought she would come pretty early. I ran and lifted hard through pregnancy and all of my fitness buff friends had babies come early. I was 3cm dialated at 37w. She came the day before she was due, lol.

This time? I am guessing somewhere between 37 and 43 weeks....

With my last baby (born on Monday) I started feeling that she was coming early a week before her birth. It was the only baby so far that I had any feeling one way or another. She came at 35w5d.

with my first pregnancy I was due May 9th... and almost right from the start I just knew I wouldn't have a May baby. I was right... she was born April 27th (I was induced because of high blood pressure).
This time I think I'll get much closer to my due date (hopefully, anyway!)

I assumed late and DD was born 5 days after her due date.

I only had a strong, strong feeling with ds. He was due Dec 8th and I thought he was going to be born around Thanksgiving instead. I labored all day Thanksgiving and he was born at 2 AM the Friday after, so I was spot on!

I thought I'd go early/on-time w/ my first DD. I went into labor at 40+1 and delivered at 40+2.

This time I think I'll go at about the same time 40+?.

I thought for sure I was going late with my daughter and she came at 37w1d. This time I thought for sure he was coming early and here I am at 39w3d and there is nothing happening. I am no good at predicting!

I knew my preemie was going to come early. I knew at 32 weeks and my membranes ruptured at 33. I only came to know it when I was part of a conversation with a midwife. She said my baby still had lots of time to turn (he was breech) and I said "he's coming early and he's not going to turn." That was the first time I knew it. But I knew it. And I was right.

I just knew my last baby was going to be born early. I just knew it.

She was born at 42 weeks and 2 days!!

Now I have an inkling that this one's coming early, but I know better than to rely on that inkling!

dd - I felt like I was going to go early, and I did.

ds - I felt like I was going to go late, but I was wrong (unless he was due a week earlier than I thought)

Dd1- I assumed I'd go late. She was born at 38+4

Dd2- This time I assumed she'd be born around the same time as her sister. I was right. She was born at 38+3.

With my first, I thought she would be early...she was 10 days post dates. With my second, I also was SURE I would be early...he was 8 days post dates. So with this one I'm going to go ahead and pretend like I think it'll be at least a week late so maybe I'll have s/he closer to 40 weeks than 41/42.

I just knew DD would be early - I lost my plug at 32w3d and was dilated to 4+5 and 80-100% effaced over the next few weeks - walked around at that for 3 weeks. She was born at 38w6d.

I was very, very sure DD was going to come before 40 weeks and she was born at 38. It's funny, because a few weeks before she was born I told DH that I thought she'd be born on the 13th and she was. I do not believe I get accurate visions of the future or anything like that. It's just the way it worked out, I guess.

I can only hope so I've always figured I'd go late and have thus far... but just the night before last I had the most AMAZINGLY VIVID dream about this baby being born... and I knew that the baby was EARLY (aka, any time before 42 weeks is 'early' for me.. but I did have a feeling the baby came before the estimated due date).

But.. I also dreamt this baby was a boy (we haven't had an u/s .. don't know the gender).. and I still proceede to make a girly quilt today. ... So I'm not giving a lot of credence to my dream
