IKEA - Schaumburg or Bolingbrook?

IKEA - Schaumburg or Bolingbrook?

Are the stores the same? Does one have more selection than the other?

We're taking a drive to IKEA today but not sure which one to go to.
We've been to the Schaumburg store only once immediately after they opened - so I am not too familiar with the stores or their products.
Bolingbrook is probably a few minutes closer (1hr 30min vs. 1hr 45min)

Thanks,

also...isn't there a lego store in Schaumburg? If so, that may make our decision for us.

They're pretty much the same. I think all Ikeas are pretty much the same.

I don't know about the Lego store. Have fun

Thanks.
I have maps for both we'll figure it out on the drive.
We were trying to get an early start which seems to be impossible for us!

There is a Lego store just a few minutes from Ikea Schaumburg, maybe 5 minutes down the road?

Thanks...it was too late when we left IKEA. We're going to try to make it out that way again to go to the Lego store.

Look up the sales tax rate for Bolingbrook. Ikea-Schaumburg has a 10% sales tax which really kills you with higher priced furniture. If Bolingbrook is in a different county (i.e., not Cook County), I would go there instead.

They are not the same. Schaumburg is bigger and has more items. I have been to Bolingbrook to exchange items I bought at the Schaumburg store (Bolingbrook is much closer to me) and been disappointed because they do not carry all of the same items.

I totally agree. I live right near the Schaumburg one, but travel to the Bollingbrook one. I can never find what I'm looking for at the Schaumburg store, and the staff isn't helpful at all. I asked for help the two different people just said it's over there some where.

The only lego store I know of is in Woodfield Mall, basically across the street from Ikea.

Actually it is across the street from Woodfield in The Streets of Woodfield near the movie theater. There used to be a Lego Store inside Woodfield but I believe it closed when Lego Land opened a few years back.

I think it depends on what you are going for. I like Schaumburg better for running in and grabbing one thing (if you know where it is). Bolingbrook is better for browsing and spending time looking at stuff.

The mall store was still open this Christmas.

A friend told me that the IKEAs have kids' play areas but I'm clueless ... any experience?

The one in Schaumburg has a couple of kids' play areas. One you can leave the kids there for an hour(I think). They have to be toilet trained. My kids really like going there, although they do have a tv on and sometimes my kids have just sat and watched most of the time. There are also places within the store for kids to play, little play houses and a small ball pit. When I have gone with my two dds we can be there for hours. The only time I can really shop is when they are not with me so I love the play area for them. Otherwise the place is too crazy for me to feel like I can look at anything and keep an eye on the girls.
