Transfer Web for Appliques

Okay, I'm really new at all this, so don't laugh too much if this is a stupid goof.

I bought some Pellon Wonder Under Transfer Web so I could applique some onesies. I just took out the instructions, and the first line is "The paperbacked adhesive web that turns any fabric into a fusible fabric."

The problem is.. there's no paper backing on this stuff. There was no paper backing on the bolt at all, and these instructions definitely went with what I bought.

So, can I somehow manufacture my own paper backing? Freezer paper, maybe? Any help? Or did I buy the wrong stuff?

Thanks!

What does it look like? A mass of slightly sticky webs or a sheet of heavy white paper with a rough, bumby side? The bumpy side is the adhesive side and needs to be placed on the wrong side of the fabric. Iron on the paper side. When cool, cut out shape and remove the paper backing. The wrong side of the fabric will now have the adhesive on it. Place applique on the onesy, adhesive side down. Cover with a pressing cloth (typing/computer paper will work. It keeps the iron clean) and press. When cool, finish off the raw edges of the applique with embroidery stitches by hand or machine.

Here's a tutorial using Heat n bond but the process is the the same. http://barbarabrandeburg.typepad.com...tblocks_1.html

If the webbing is just a mass of threads, what you bought is probably Stitch Witchery. That is cut into the shape needed and placed between 2 fabrics and ironed. http://stanssewingsupplies.com/catal...asp?pid=237840

If you bought Wonder Under then then you should have a paper w/ a smooth side and a rough side.

Put the rough side on the back of fabric and iron per directions on the package. Then the paper will peel off and leave a thin layer of glue that will adhere to another fabric when you iron it. Check out this tutorial.

Thanks guys. I figured it out today. The bolt that I got it from said "Wonder Under" but there was no paper backing, it was just a sheet of bumpy threads (not sticky at all, though). I experimented with parchment paper and that worked just fine.

I layered a section of the web between the wrong side of the fabric and a piece of parchment paper, ironed, then drew the shape I wanted on the paper, cut it out, and peeled the paper off. Then I ironed the fabric onto the onesie.

Freezer paper does *not* work, that I also learned.
