I'm 21w pregnant and my 2yo recently showed some interest in using the toilet so we happily rolled with it.
A friend recommended this 3-day method, which at first glance doesn't seem super AP. I figured I'd modify the parts that didn't fit (we don't do praise, etc.), and here we are 50% through the three-day weekend.
He has peed a little in the toilet maybe 4 times and pooped a little once. All of those were after he already did it in his pants. I'm feeling extremely discouraged, as is my husband, and we're thinking of giving up (we're out of clean underwear, anyway--not sure the method works without them).
Has anyone here ever tried the 3-day method? Have I bastardized it so much that it wont' work? We get really excited when he pees/poos in the toilet and make sure he see that. We let him see us going to the bathroom. We talk about how pee and poo go in the toilet, not in our clothes or on the floor. He just keeps going in his pants. I just feel like it's not working. Maybe I'm supposed to feel that way half-way through?
I know there are a lot of theories on readiness (we're definitely ECing our next child), so it's hard for me to tell if I'm doing the right thing or not. I'd love to hear any input, even if it means suggestions of other methods or telling me it seems like I should wait.
