Carrying stuff while babywearing

We have an ergo & use it almost daily with ds on my back. We love it - it's comfy & easy. But I find I'm always struggling to figure out how to carry things besides ds, meaning I'm often walking around with things in my hands or just not bringing things along that I would otherwise. I find the pocket on the ergo rather useless & it's only really accessible when I have ds out of the ergo. It's not necessarily my keys or wallet that are the problem but more an extra diaper or water bottle or snack or swimsuits & towels for the pool or.....

So, how do you carry things other than dc when doing a backcarry?

Ergo sells a backpack that attaches to the carrier.

I do this, but put it on last so I can take it on and off. It's just a lightweight purse with a long strap that goes diagonally. The strap is thin and lightweight enough that I can barely feel it.

Thanks.
I've done thecross body thing but I guess I need a laarger one that holds more.
The backpack is neat but a little pricey - Iwonder if it makes putting dc on your back trickier.

I like the backpack a lot but yes - it's trickier to put the baby on your back by yourself. If you have help, it's fine and it works really well (though you can't access it by yourself unless you take the baby off)

It is great for us when we're out for a long time as a family. I use the backpack alone as my diaper bag as well and love it.

I haven't had any trouble using a shoulder strap bag with the Ergo on, though. In fact, I slip the shoulder strap through the buckle of the Ergo to keep it from slipping down my arm and find it very comfortable. I don't use a huge bag, just a smallish purse-size I guess.

This is the exact question I had!!

I use mostly an Ergo. Sometimes a mei tei. I am really tired of my stuffed purse that falls off my shoulder every two seconds. My Ergo came with one of their backpacks which is great for when I go for an exercise walk but too difficult for anything else.

I am still front wearing though

So where does the bag strap go across your front? I feel like the bag strap smooshes my coat into kiddo's face & I can't see his nose to check his breathing.

Anna Phor - if I was doing a front carry I would just use a backpack, otherwise I'd put the strap under the baby.
