ds is allergic to dairy, so i send his food to daycare. the center is also nut free. i find myself sending the same things (lots of bunny grahams, crackers, maybe with a dried fruit of some sort, a granola bar, a muffin, veggies or crackers and hummus, stuff like that) im not too worried about matching up with their menu, except when they have cheese slices, then i send his fake cheese, because he'll try to steal it otherwise, lol

anyway, im just at a loss of what to send. i sent some coconut milk yogurt the other day, it was the first time hed had it, and his teacher said he ate it well enough... that depends on how well it goes trying to make my own, cause its way expensive.

any ideas are much appriciated. hes a fairly good eater, so im open to anything

If you do eggs, a peeled hardboiled egg (with crackers? or veggies)

A grated carrot-raisin salad - with lemon juice, touch of oil, and pinch salt (you could roll in tortilla or put in a pita half, or leave plain)

mini-bagel (or bagel half), maybe with dairy-free cream cheese?

tortilla triangles with mashed beans and black olives (tomatoes, green onion, whatever if he likes other stuff work too)

Is it seed free? Could you send sunflower seed butter and crackers?

Pita bread and bean dip?

My son likes canned beans...maybe some form of bean salad?

I'm big on cut up fruit and steamed veggies

home-made muffins?

hard boiled egg slices?

My kids love beans, which is a bit odd...

So, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans are a hit here (just plain and cold)

Boiled eggs

Carrot and celery sticks

Dry cereal of any sort

pita bread triangles, toasted

dry fruit (raisins, prunes, apricots, peaches, apples)

If he likes hummus, maybe he'll like this white bean dip:

1 can (19 oz/540 mL) white kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 Tbsp/15 mL lemon juice

1 Tbsp/15 mL olive oil

1 clove garlic, pressed

1/2 tsp/2 mL dried oregano, crumbled

1/2 tsp/2 mL salt

1/4 tsp/1 mL pepper

Place all ingredients in a food processor fitted with a blade.
Blend until very smooth.

Dry cereal
Popcorn (depending on the age of the child)
A piece of fruit (cut up apples, orange sections, strawberries, cut up grapes)
Pretzels with wasabi mustard dip or hummus or peanut butter mixed with honey
tortilla chips with salsa or guacamole
Mini PB (or sun flower butter) and jelly sandwiches
crackers with sliced meat instead of cheese
homemade trail mix with sunflowers, cereal, and dried fruit
cut up veggies with dairy free ranch dressing
Wasabi peas (my kid's favorite).
