poop question

My one-month-old ebf baby went from having yellow, seedy bms after most feedings (about 6-8 per day) to suddenly having no bms for a week. When she finally had one yesterday, it was dark yellow and completely liquid (it all soaked into the diaper) and then today she had one that was dark green and completely liquid. I understand that bf babies often go longer between bms starting at around one month and that their stools are usually very loose, but what worries me is that the bms suddenly have no seeds and absolutely no solid matter at all. Is this normal, or worth a call to the pediatrician?

Does she seem dehydrated? Is she happy and content, or is she screaming all day?

If she goes a few days without a poop, I expect the next couple poops to be "off," you know? DD2 was like that as a small infant. When she turned about 7 months, we started giving her about a half ounce of prune juice, diluted with water, once every other day. That got her on track and set her up for one poop a day every day since, just about. Some days 2 poops, rarely no poops, now at 1 yo.

Totally normal for baby to go from several poops a day to one a week or even one every 10 days. This usually happens at about 6 weeks, but can happen earlier in some.

Is baby having 6 HEAVY wet diapers in 24 hours? If so you know she is well hydrated. And if she is gaining weight well (~1 oz a day, 5-7 oz a week) then you know she's getting enough milk!

As far as the poops go, as long as they are runny and not black or bloody then you are doing fine. Frequent green poops along with a fussy baby and/or poor weight gain may mean overactive letdown/over supply, but a green pooop once in a while is not usually a problem. And not all breastfed abbies have 'seeds' in their poop either.

Hope that helps!
