Kidney stones and pregancy

I have had a crazy weeked. On Thursday, I was having what I thought was a little cramping. I was concerned but I tried to drink a lot of water and rest. It got a little better but was still bothering me a little on Friday morning. Around, noon on Friday, I started having really bad pain in my stomach and then I started feel like I needed to go to the bathroom constantly to pee but couldn't always go. I was so afraid that I was having contractions and was going into labor. I am only 23 weeks. I called the doctor and they wanted me to go to the hospital and be evaluated. I dropped off ds at a friends house and went to the hospital were dh met me. I was in so much pain, that I could hardly talk to anyone. Luckily, they were able to check on the baby and she is fine. I was not dialated at all. The ran some test and found out. I have kidney stones. They were able to give me something for the pain and I they had me stay the night at the hospital. I was put in the antipardom wing. So, they baby was checked on alot. They were hoping I would pass that stone soon but that didn't happen. Yesterday, they found a med. that help me regulate the pain and I am now home. I haven't passed anything yet and I am still in pain. I so don't want to be on this pain meds any longer but I can't handle the pain without it. I hope they pass soon, so I don't have to continue this. Has any of you ever had kidney stones before? How long did they take to pass?

Ugh, I almost hate to post this, as it's not very reassuring. My SIL had kidney stones with her last pregnancy this time last year. Long story short, the stones didn't pass until after the baby was born, and they were able to break the stones up with ultrasound-which they can't do during pregnancy. She ended up being on painkillers for the last few months of the pregnancy.

Has your doctor said if they think the stones can pass by themselves?

I really hope that is not the case. I am only 23 weeks. I can't imagine exposing my little one to these pain meds that long. Right now, I want to cry each time I have to take one.
