pneumonia and my DD!

So, we all got that stomach bug that's been going around at the beginning of last week, and it was killer! DD [who's 2] and I were both barfing, and generally feeling gross...pretty sure my friend came over and brought it with her.

On top of that DD got a cold. I was doing the whole hot steaming mists, cool mist at night, chest rubs, showers, and an organic honey syrup but finally caved and brought her to the doctor. She's MISERABLE! And she had fluid in her lungs which the doctor said could very well be a mild pneumonia so here we are.

She gave me a breathing mist machine, and prescribed a pretty strong antibiotic which I did some research on, and decided was okay. She's still miserable though - very sleepy/lethargic and just wants to read or watch movies, nothing else.

I just, it's been a hellish week. I think we watched every Pixar movie and in between I'm working on cleaning out the house of germs and I'm just overwhelmed. Does anyone have any experience with toddlers and pneumonia and have any tips or advice to share?

Ugh, pneumonia sucks.
My 3.5 yr. old got it in December and it took a lot of work to get rid of it.
We did:

Florastor for kids to help his gut- you can get it at the cvs pharmacy

chest percussion's- steam up the bathroom for a good 10 mins and then pound on their back to help loosen it up. Make sure they are in a position to help it drain out.

Blow nose to help clear crud

Humidifier at night

no cough syrup- as you want them to cough it up

Herbs for kids- horehound blend for respiratory and and lung support

he was also on antibiotics- first time ever

vitamin d and sodium ascorbate

lots of rest and down time and a slow re entry to school

I am sure I did some other stuff and my pneumonia thread is somewhere in here....I will try and find it for you.
Good luck momma!

I wonder if it's viral pneumonia since the antibiotics don't seem to be helping much. My son had pneumonia at about 18 months. The doctor gave him a shot of rocefin and he started perking up by that evening.

I hope she's feeling better soon. It sounds like a miserable week. The only advice I have is the doctor told me to pound my son's back to loosen things up. Have you been doing that?

I third the chest percussion's that will really get things moving and lots and lots of water to loosen stuff up and no DAIRY as this stuff is thick enough..... Well good luck I hope things get better for you and your lo.
