What do you get for a one-year-old that has everything? Any ideas?

a book subscription. check babybug, or national wildlife federation for their baby mags.

I got my DD a harmonica. It was really interesting figuring out how to teach a one year old to "blow" into it rather than eat/bite it! But once she figured it out, it is one of her favorite toys!

These were DS's favorite toys when he turned one. The wooden rings were somethings he played with until he was probably 4 years old or so - sometimes they were trash for his truck, etc.

This last post made me think of my ds- for his first we got him a kazoo and other instruments- but the kazoo was the big success~~ The recorder type instrument was hard- he couldnt get the hang of blowing, but he can hum into the kazoo!! I def. agree about NWF Wild Animal Babies Mag. I just bought about 70 of them from ebay, and we love breaking out a few more each month.

i read somewhere once that the best gift for a 1-yr old is a box of kleenex!
i love the idea too. they can open the box, have fun pulling them out, play with all the mess on the floor, etc...etc...

Thanks for all the ideas! I think my SIL would kill me if I gave my niece a box of Kleenex... but I did giggle at the thought of encouraging her to make quite such a mess in their very very clean house!

The wooden toys are great (I'm putting on my wish list for DD!) but my niece has more toys already than she knows what to do with... thanks to my mother... but I'm looking up the baby mag now - that's a great idea! Thanks!!!

My grandma-in-law got DD the national wildlife federation mag for Christmas. Very cute. And they send a little plate with spoon and fork when you subscribe, fwiw.
