Fleece Vs. Suede

I'm looking for a diaper that will keep my son dry at night. We are currently only using Gro Baby and it's only cotton and since we generally don't change him for 12 hours I want something that will keep his skin dry because he has a sensitive bum.

We did make some fleece inserts out of a baby blanket, but he broke out in a rash. So I was wondering is there a chance it was because it was a cheap blanket and not a made insert? Or should we just skip fleece all together and go for suede.

Is there a chance he'll even react to suede? We use a diaper detergent and follow the wash recommendations. At the time we tried the fleece though we weren't using a diaper detergent.

I would try washing the fleece you fashioned in with your diapers and do a day time test first. It may be the detergent they were washed in.

ditto previous poster.
For us, DD couldn't handle microsuede and needs fleece. She has extremely sensitive skin. But I know other families that can't do fleece! Just depends on the kid I guess. But I would try re-washing in diaper detergent, because detergent can make a big difference.

I'll give them one more shot then and if he breaks out in a rash again I'll switch to suede.

I personally find suedecloth (especially in BG's and Kawaii's) to feel much drier than fleece. I've read about babies that are sensitive to fleece that do just fine with suedecloth, and also vice versa. He could also be sensitive to suedecloth. They are both 100% polyester. But it seems really common that babies are sensitive to one and not the other.

It could easily be the detergent too!
