Another Good Reason for Us

Just a little background since I have not been on here much.
Neither one of want to wait but logic overtook our hearts. We were waiting because both DH and I are doing some intense cleansing and health building to try to improve fertility.
I am happy to report that my last period was very manageable. I usually suffer quite a bit with pain from endo and this last time I did not need anything for pain (yes, I had cramping, but none that required even a hot water bottle). So only one month into the Shutdown Cleanse and I already have some positive results.
We are also hoping to finish building our home this year as well. We are doing it in phases as we have the time and can afford it. Yes, you can be pregnant and have children anywhere, but it will be nicer to be in our own home when that time comes. So this reason is just a bonus really.

Now as to the other good reason to wait:
We found out last week that the place we are living in has a high radon level. This probably explains why our bird died, as well as some other stuff. Obviously, this toxic air would not be good for mama or baby, so it is probably just as well we have not conceived yet. I don't even like breathing the fumes of chemical cleaners, so we are glad to have discovered this.

Now to work on the radon solution so we can stay here until time to move into our home. We are house sitting (no rent) which helps our friends and really helps our wallet so we can get our house done.

Oh I like this thread!!

Waiting just a couple more years will let me:
1. Get financially on my feet
2. Enjoy a smokin' hot body
3. Start (and possibly be closed to finishing) grad school
4. Learn what life is like without children (as the oldest of 5 kids, I've always been the go-to childcare person. I love it, but shouldn't everyone know what it is to not be a responsible parental figure at some point in their life?)

I haven't worked out in 5...count them 5days. Boo on me.

That's something I have to get into my head, that excercise can happen anywhere. I always feel like I don't have time to go to the gym, or the gym daycare isn't open, or I make up some excuse along those lines. I've started walking at lunchtime with a friend at work, and even thought it was 13 degrees today, I was able to get in about 30 minutes of walking. Not to mention a little vitamin D!

Shh..don't tell anyone, but I have only worked out once since Jan 1st.
Wow, to see that in print really makes it awful.
Maybe I will do my rebounder after I get the dishes done tonight.

Oooh! Yes, positive thinking! There are some days when I think I"m nuts for wanting another when I think of these things.

- I've lost all the weight from DD's pregnancy and then some, and am enjoying my figure. I can work on enjoying it and dressing cute for now!

- I want to research to find a different midwife than last time, and I want to research a couple other things. I want to find out about delayed cord clamping and encapsulating the placenta, most of all.

- I want to clean my house up really nicely, finally start looking for a new home and MOVE!!! I need a bigger house and I don't want to ttc or have another baby here. All this time will really help me meet that goal. I can't WAIT to start house hunting!!

Mamalove1 - I would LOVE to move to Hawaii! <3 I'm envious!

KBL7 - Radon is scary stuff. It is definitely in all your best interests to be somewhere else when ttc! I couldn't imagine!

That's right - moving! It will definitely be in my best interest NOT to be 7 months pregnant and moving to a new house 0

More Postive Thinking - any 36 mamas to be?

So are there any mamas-to-be planning to give birth after 35? There are such conflicting and scary articles. I know there are many of us out there who can support one another.
Please share positive advice and encouragement!!!! I would love to hear it!

I am 38 now and taking a break from TTC my first.
There are really many factors to consider. The health of both parents to start with. The statistic are based on the average American, who is not really healthy (consider the SAD diet).
I know many mamas in their 30s and 40s who had healthy pregnancies and babies. You will find those who are more "naturally minded" have far better statistics. I think mainly due to the fact that they take responsibility for themselves to be well and live a more preventative lifestyle.
Hang in there. You will find many wise old mamas on here with good stories even if they are not told in the mainstream medical world.

Thank you for your encouragement!

I hope it doesn't sound too silly to say that I'm ready to wait a while longer to TTC now that our tax return came in and I was able to get some cute clothes. I haven't had new clothes since 2007 (except for maternity duds) and after Jack my body is totally different. It feels really good to be wearing jeans that fit and make me feel like I'm almost 24 (which I am) and young and happy and even a tiny bit sexy too! Waiting to the end of the year will be a snap I think, with my new jeans and pretty pink cardigan to keep me company.

Bump!

I need this thread today, AF is here and im feeling kinda emo

One thing that will be crossed off my list in the next week...we're moving! We are hoping that this is our last move before kids.

Oh and also a glimmer of hope (maybe this should go in the waiting thread but its positive so here it goes lol), hubby and I were watching TV and they made a vasectomy joke and my hubby pretend pouted and said "I dont wanna be cut!" I said, ok baby, you wont get cut and he seemed happy about that, lol. This may seem small and insignificant to most, but in my world, it was VERY cool to hear, lol.

This is a good thread and I should contribute.

Waiting to have a baby will allow me to:
- Get as much work as possible so that mailbox money rolls in all the while I'm pg and not working.

- Afford and complete the household renovations/redesigns that I envision when I envision a LO in our home (expanding the upstairs, remodeling the downstairs bathroom, re-sealing the wood floors, buying new bedroom furniture).

- Become a skilled enough gardener that some reasonable portion of our diet comes from veggies I grew in my own back yard.

- Train for and complete a 5k road race (June 5!), and maybe another, and maybe an indoor triathlon.

- Travel for work whenever and to wherever I am invited.

- Convince DH that UC is not unreasonable, home birth is perfectly safe (esp. seeing as we could throw a rock and hit a hospital from where we live), birth centers are completely acceptable (although farther from the backup hospital than our house is) and that a midwife might be welcome when I give birth but an OB will NOT be.

- Get into the habit of getting to the gym more than once a week.

-Foster more litters of orphaned kittens ( I totally recommend this to baby wanting ladies; there's something wonderful about having to get up in the middle of the night to bottle feed adorable tiny kittens).

- Drink whatever I want whenever I want.

- Have more time alone with the love of my life.

Hello all, may I join? I'm Chelci, 21, I've been married for 2 1/2 years and we have 2 children together. We want another child but we don't know when we will start TTC. Hopefully, it will be soon. I currently have the Paragard (Copper T) IUD so there should be no "oopsies" before we are ready.
I'm kind of hovering between here and the ttc board. I just got my IUD taken out, but we have condoms for backup because we want to get the timing right. A baby wouldn't be terrible by any means, but we want to wait until June or July to start trying because I'm a teacher and I want a spring baby.

Waiting will:
Make sure that I get to finish out the school year with my current class without being tired and nauseated.

Help me plan for the timing I want that is best for my family and career.

Help me have time to knit and knit and knit soakers and baby clothes and a maternity sweater or two.

Give me more time to plan our childcare for when I do have to go back to work.

Let me be a few months or more behind all my pregnant girlfriends right now so I can borrow all their clothes and cloth diapers and baby gear when they are done with it!
