She doesn't want to go in a diaper - time for EC?

My 10 week old seems to prefer not to go in her diaper. Like, she cries before she's wet and then pees when we take her diaper off. Same with poop. It's not all the time, but during the day, I often just lay down a big cloth diaper and let her wiggle around on that to air out her butt, and I think she figured out that was a preferable time to go to the bathroom.

I had not really considered EC, but it seems like maybe she could get into that? What are some good first steps and/or resources for learning how to do this?

well, the real question is if you can.

if you feel that you can EC happily, then definitely do it. it seems to me that you are already doing a lot of it, and you know her signal (crying before going), and all you have to do then is hold her over the sink, bucket, toilet or whatever else. and that's it. that's EC!

you can use diapers as back up, choose not to use them at all, whatever you want. give it a try!

It does sound like you've already kind of started! You can give her the chance to potty over a bowl, toilet, potty, sink, or other receptacle when you think she has to go. Other good times to offer are when first waking up and when taking her out of a carrier or sling or carseat. EC can be as full time or part time as works for you.
