Hcg too low?! Help!

The RE left a message today that I am to be on bed rest, pelvic rest, more water and no heavy lifting. At 4.5 weeks! My hcg is 904. She called in vag suppositories. The office is closed right now of course so I guess I have to wait til morning to ask questions. Just wondering what all of you thought. Is she just jumpy due to her specialty. I've never had a loss. This is my first beta so its not like she could know if it isn't doubling. Sorry if this is all over the place but I'm freaking out! She may as well have just told me to prepare to lose my baby. Please help talk me down.

I think that number looks fine. It could be for another reason. Maybe progesterone. In that case the suppositories will help. Hopefully, you can talk to your RE tom. and get more answers.

Do you know when you ovulated? You could have ovulated later and it can TOTALLY throw your numbers off if she thinks you ovulated on say day 14 and you didn't ovulate until day 20 - it would look like they aren't high enough when they could be perfectly fine. Also, you can't tell much from one set of numbers - you need to know how they are doubling. I would NOT freak out too much, seriously.Hugs to you mama, I hate it when docs start freaking out and don't explain things.

My hcg at 4.5 weeks with my dd was 398 so yours is way higher than mine was.

Wait - so you are 17-18dpo? 900 is a GREAT number for then! I had really high HCG with DD and also implanted earlier and was at 1555 with her at 17dpo so if you implanted one day later than I did with DD, it would put you at 900-1000 at 17dpo. I would not worry at all - for some reason I was thinking that 4.5 weeks was further along.

Oh, and check out betabase.info - the numbers that are in there are all pregnancies where a heartbeat has been seen/heard so stronger pregnancies.

Thanks mamas. I feel a little better. I thought it was odd that she would mention suppositories and not progesterone levels, only hcg. Two cycles ago she tested my Progesterone and it was at 27. How likely is it that it would be so high then and too low now? I've never had anything but perfect cycles and my bbs are always tender right before AF. They are pretty sore now too. It would stand to reason that if they are sore enough to notice, that I'm producing enough Progesterone to cause that. Am I just grasping at straws? That's my reasoning, someone correct me if I'm wrong please!

wow, at 4 weeks 3 days my hcg was 102...thankfully my RE never freaked me out - just had me come in a few days later for another beta. Now I'm 20 weeks and baby is wiggling away right now.

besides, even if hcg were too low, I don't think bedrest would help at all. did she check your progesterone too? I would call and see what that was...but even then, I don't think bedrest would be necessary, just suppositories.

Hope all is well with your little one!!!

any chance that she is wondering about twins with your numbers and being extra cautious?

Ok, wow. These people are nuts. I finally talked to the nurse and she danced around (never really would come out and say it) saying it was something they tell everyone. Really? My Progesterone is 27 and my hCG is over 900 and you want to put me on suppositories "in case"?!

"Even though your numbers are really good we'll still want to check about twice a week and then do ultrasounds at 6, 9 and 12 weeks...just to make sure everything stays fine..." Oh h*ll no!! I'm perfect and my baby will be perfect and YOU just lost a customer!

Thanks for the reassurance, it should have never come to needing it, IMO!

WHAT???!!! Run away! That's ludicrous. Good luck with finding your new care provider!

Hmmmm............that seems kind of odd. My hcg numbers at 4w5d were only 164, so way lower then yours. It seems odd they would give that advice to everyone. I wasn't told to do anything besides go to the ER if I had cramping/bleeding (she was worried about ectopic or miscarriage because of the low numbers). I wasn't offered ultrasound either.....just went for blood work twice a week and within 2.5 weeks the numbers were up to 25,000.
