I think my ds is ready for a mattress. Ours has been on the floor for months, with ds in it at night. He sleeps in his crib for naps during the day, but (he's 1 year) he can stand up in it and I'm not comfortable leaving him in it overnight. We were thinking about getting a mattress for his room, or using his crib mattress but putting it on the floor. Anyone do anything like this? I'm actually more worried about him falling out of his crib than I am him rolling out of a mattress. I think we could get him comfortably in his own bed at night, or at least for part of the night, which would help us get more sleep (and some privacy). We could also put his crib mattress in our room, though we would like to have our mattress back on the bed if possible (it's a little crowded in there).

Is there a generally recognized age/size for mattress safety? I looked in family safety, but it's all car seat stuff.
