Oil cleansing help

Hi, I've tried oil pulling in the past, using EVOO... however, my skin is pretty sensitive and wiping the oil off was a lot more rubbing than my face can take. It really aggravated my skin! I also feel like going with a different oil would be beneficial.

I want to try again, this time with a much softer cloth (not a regular wash cloth) and probably a different oil, or a combo of oils. I know that there's an element of trial and error with finding the "perfect" oil, but if you had to make a suggestion, what would you recommend? My skin is very dry, prone to breakouts, and sensitive. I also have rosacea, which may or may not matter.

Any thoughts?

oops... nevermind. It just occurred to me that you probably are trying to clean your face using the oil cleansing method....

I'm not sure if oil pulling is the correct term for what you're trying to accomplish? I thought oil pulling was swishing the oil through your teeth?

anyway, oil washing.

try EVOO again but do not wipe the oil off in a hard way. just dab it off with a soft cloth. the primary stuff will come up, and what is left will help heal the skin.

you might also consider calendula oil (marigold--expensive but *excellent*), avocado, or coconut oil. i gave these in the most-to-least expensive.

Oh - thought the term for the oil-in-the-mouth was "oil swishing" and that washing with oil was pulling! I will go with the terms oil washing or oil cleansing then.

I might have to wait to do this until I'm going to be sequestered for a couple weeks. I suspect my skin won't look good for a while. My skin doesn't like change!

I found, too, that i was rubbing too hard. I'd suggest being gentle, and if you're concerned about the oil left on your face, use a little witch hazel or diluted vinegar to (gently) wipe it away. I have oily/sensitive skin, so i use witch hazel every time i oil cleanse, and i only oil cleanse every other day, sometimes less. In between, it's just a wet washcloth or some super-diluted Dr. Bronner's tea tree soap.
