Hi everybody. Sorry the new thread is late. I have been very consumed lately. Winter and the inward spiral really gets me going. Now, it's time to spiral my way out.
Welcome to the new people.
lotusblossom - Training at Kripalu sounds so wonderful. I hope you have a wonderful time.
zoebird - May your move be a glorious one.

I am finding more and more connection to my practice. It is an amazing experience and a life changing one for me. I'm still practicing both Kundalini and Hatha yoga. KY being my main focus in my personal practice. I will be certified to teach prenatal Hatha yoga in April! I can hardly wait for that.

I can do a full boat pose too now! I never ever dreamed that that was even possible for me because of my back condition. But, the other night my body told me to do it... and I could!

awesome that you can finally do boat pose, that must feel wonderful.

What are some good yoga video's online for free? anyone know? Favorite books with poses?

Mine are in boxes stored away at the moment.

I'm struggling in my practice lately. I feel very weak... Not sure what's going on with my body, but I'm trying to honor it.

lil earthmama - It's good to honor that. I've been having some issues with having to wait to long between breakfast and my practice. I practice on an empty stomach, so I think my blood sugar drops. Have you thought about diet/nutrition? Are you getting enough sleep?

Definitely not enough sleep, trying hard to eat well.

I need to start Yoga classes again. It not only helps you physically but for me it helps to clear my mind. Should I even mention how flexible you have to be. I must say its a bit of strain but you can get use to it.

Flexibility is not a requirement of yoga. Most poses can be modified to meet your level of flexibility, and adjusted as you grow in that area. If you are straining in a pose, you aren't doing yourself any good and could cause injury. Sure, it should feel like work, but you are to let your breath carry you and work with the body to strengthen it. If you keep in mind that you are working with your body and not against it, that is a big help.

I'm just saying... I am/was not flexible, but as I continue to practice and work with my body I am finding in time, my flexibility increases. I look at these yoga models perfectly demonstrating staff pose, bending from the hips and head on knees, and I think I'll never be able to do that... I'll always need a strap to have proper alignment, but truly... I don't know that. I never thought I'd do a full on boat pose, but recently I did it without strain. I never foresaw myself in a shoulder stand, but now I think eventually I'll do a headstand. Oh, and plow...not for me right now, but soon it will be.

Hello ladies. I posted in yoga mamas a long while ago. I recently got back on my mat and it feels so good. I've been doing Seane Corn's Vinyasa flow and really like it. I tried Shiva Rea again and she just moves around too much! I can't stand it anymore. I'm actually in the market for another DVD, any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

Wish I had more advice for DVD's... I do like Sean Corne's, as well...but I've mostly practiced with a teacher, or on my own sans video. I recently did a couple of free podcasts and I would have enjoyed them a lot more had the dog and the kids not been in the middle of it!

I am on day 23 of a "30 days of Yoga" challenge (an hour of yoga a day for 30 days is the goal). Last week was a tough week for me...physically sore but I switched things up a bit...eased off of the vinyasa and did a couple of hot classes and a restorative class to try and find a little more balance, instead. I used to be pretty intimidated by Hot, but I'm really enjoying it...and finding that it is helping deepen my practice. I also never imagined myself doing 30 days of yoga in a row...but, here I am and it is teaching me alot about my body and my mind. Last week I finally found that I was able to get into camel pose! I was shocked...it has always seemed like a pose that was pretty unattainable for my body.

Anyway, Yoga is an amazing journey
and I hope that anyone here that is new to it, keeps on going...

my daily practice has suffered this winter. my old house is very drafty, and i can't get warm enough, even with vigorous sun salutations. (also, i was nursing a sprained ligament in my foot.)

i've tried to embrace the less physical yoga, sitting in meditation under thick blankets., but i'm missing vinyasa.

so....favorite heat-building practices? i'd be up for a kundalini sequence, maybe.

yeah, or just hard core pranayama!

got to NZ with minimal struggle. didn't bicker with DH too much. tried to keep it cool. had lots of neat curve balls, too.

looking to take a "kona" (donation) class this evening with my friend. still lagged though. i don't know if i should go or sleep. either way, i'm going to sleep like a baby.

I'm about 10 weeks pg and having a hard time finding energy to teach class let alone practice. I know every body is different, but it would be great to hear how long any of you taught through the 9 months, when did you stop teaching, when did you start back up?
