Is your local 4H losing funding?

This is cross posted from the childhood folder, b/c I wasn't sure where to put it.

I finally got around to trying to find out more info about getting my kindergartener into cloverbuds, b/c I saw an ad in the paper for cloverbuds for the next county over. I was told that they were not accepting any new members in our county and to call back in a few wks. I asked why I needed to call back in a few wks, b/c that was a new registration period? And the lady just told me that basically they are losing their funding (after I had just read in the paper that their funding was ok?!?!), so they don't know if they will have 4H anymore.

I am really surprised. 4H has been around for a long time. Is this something that is happening in a lot of communities?

Yes, some counties around here almost lost their funding- it was restored but with more fees for members. We have to pay $10 per child this year.

Thanks! I hope they don't get rid of our program, I don't mind paying more fees if they need it.
