flight anxiety. Is there anything safe I can take?

Hello!

I'm going to talk with my midwife abt this too, but it's on my mind now. I am flying in a couple of days and I have severe flight anxiety. I usually take something like xanax or valium, but am planning on taking nothing on this flight because I am 11 weeks pregnant. However, as the day approaches I am starting to feel more and more that I'm not sure I can fly by myself without extreme stress which is bad for baby and for me.

Has anyone taken anything natural or known to be safe during pregnancy for flying and had it work?

Thanks!

I have general anxiety, and I don't know for sure if this will help you, but my midwives encourage me to take 30 drops of motherwort tincture and/or 30 drops of scullcap tincture for anxiety and insomnia. To me it has a similar effect as valium, although not as intense, unfortunately. But it still makes a difference. You could try taking some during an evening you have no plans and see how it makes you feel. The benefit of scullcap, besides being considered a tranquilizer, is that is aids in digestion. My tummy feels really good when I take it.

This is obvious advice, but talk to your doctor about it. From everything I have heard and read, if you are prescribed some kind of anti-anxiety medication, one or two small (as prescribed) doses will not harm your baby. If you can get by with safe homeopathic remedies, go for it. I know, for me, when I'm in the midst of a panic attack or something similar (which is rare, thank God) homeopathic remedies don't help.

Bach's RR

I think Bach's Rescue Remedy is safe in pregnancy. A lot of people use the spray to quick access.

If you do a search on it, you'll see some stories of women who have successfully used it during pregnancy.

Awww I totally feel for you because I have flight anxiety too! We went on an international trip in December and I hardly slept the whole week before! I found Hyland's Calms Forte to be helpful as well as Young Living essential oil called Valor...I carry that with me all the time. HTH!
