Help, could this be labor?

Hi, I'm just 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. This morning I did a lot of walking since I still needed to buy some stuff for the baby, by noon I could barely walk, I had this awful back pain. I put my children down for a nap and then lay down for an hour and a half, when I went to get dd from her nap the pain came back but after 10 minutes it went away for at least 2 hours, then it kicked back again, but now everytime I tried to walk I get the back pain an a contraction, if I stay sitted or laying down no contractions or pain at all. But every time I try to stand or walk it comes back

I alrealy called my dr. but I hate that office, my insurance didn't allow me to change doctors and I don't like them, they never call you back when you have issues!! I called twice to talk to the dr. she didn't call me back the first time, the second time I called, a nursed called me saying to take tylenol and rest and that if I thouht I was in labor to go to the hospital. Yeah, right, I have 2 children at home and it's quite a hike to go and also I have to call my friend who also has a child at home to come in the middle of the night to watch my children. I don't want to bother her unless I'm in true labor.

I'm not sure if this is the start of labor since my other 2 children were born at 40 weeks, water broke no contractions and labor stalled, so after hours of squating, walking, etc, I had to be induced with both and deliver vaginally.

Has anyone experienced this with her labor, I'm very anxious since I don't even have diapers, I'm sitting here witht the computer while my husband starts to pack and get ready as much as he can (just in case)

I just want to know if this is kind of preterm labor, will it go away if tomorrow I rest all day?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks!!

Well, I can only tell you my experience - I had prodromal labor with DD for 6 weeks. The only difference when I finally went into labor was that I had a lower backache (like you might feel when you get your period) but I also had ctx that didn't go away.

That being said, the fact that it goes away means it just might be prodromal labor or you aren't in active labor yet. One of the tricks I learned with dealing with prodromal labor (basically labor but it goes away after 2-6 hours or so) is to take a nice warm (but not too hot) bath and maybe a half glass of wine. If it's true labor, it will stick around, and the wine may actually cause it to kick up. If it's prodromal labor, it will most likely go away.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

Hmmm, I don't really know if you are in labor. Does the back pain feel like contractions? I could be back labor? Do you know what position your baby is in? If the contractions are only happening when you get up and move around, I would suggest you put yourself on bed rest of sorts, as much as you can with a toddler running around. Just try to get lots of rest. I'm sure once your labor starts you will know with out a doubt. Sounds like some pre-labor stuff to me... Good luck to you, and hang in there!

Be sure to stay in contact with your doctor. I hope all is well.
