Flax: Does anyone have any problems with it?

Yesterday I decided I needed more good fats in my diet. I made some cookies with ground flax, oatmeal, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips. Quite tasty really. I ate three yesterday and one this morning, and proceeded to get quite ill. Granted, I am pregnant, and get quite ill often, but this went beyond the usual nausea and vomiting, but was definitely gastrointestinal in nature. Also my heartbeat increased, which threw me into a panic attack which was quite unpleasant. And I was fixated on the idea that it was the flax that was to blame. I've had it before, and usually I'm fine, but I know that it is a bit toxic. Maybe it was too much for my pregnant body? Has anyone heard of reacting to flax?

Also, does anyone have any ideas about incorporating more good fats? I've started adding avocadoes and olives to my food and I already use olive oil almost exclusively. I'm not a huge fan of nuts, although I know walnuts are great for this, and I just can't bring myself to pay what they're asking for salmon.

My DD has really weird reactions to flax. I used them in muffins once and she got a rash.

Nuts, good oils, avocados, sounds like you're doing fine

My mom can't handle flax at all. It makes her really sick to her stomach.

Flax seeds always give me diarrhea. Usually that means I can't buy any multi-grain breads because they're in everything. I bake most things myself now to avoid those irritants.
