Hand sewing book for beginners

I'm putting together a sewing basket for one of my nieces, and I'd like to include a book that shows some hand sewing stitches. She lives across the country from me, so I cannot teach her in person, and they do not have internet service at home so she can't look online.

I looked at Joann's this morning, and didn't see anything basic enough.

I'd love some suggestions!

Here's a little booklet that was posted on Sew, Mama, Sew. It is downloadable and free, it shows basic hand-sewing stitches. It is very cute but might not have enough examples for what you have in mind.
