21 month old waking every hour

it's driving me mad. my worst moments are at 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the morning when DS is just waking and crying, waking and crying.

I'm pregnant and I NEED MY SLEEP. DH works and HE NEEDS HIS SLEEP.

right now DS has a bed which is right next to ours. i cannot fathom WHY all of a sudden he is waking every hour. i thought it might be teething pain, but if it is, even Motrin is not helping to relieve it. he has no signs of going through a growth/development spurt either. he falls asleep easy enough, and sleeps the first 2-3 hours or so (bedtime is between 7:30 and 8:30). but then it's all downhill from there.

so what's the deal. cause if this continues i'll be posting the same problem in the gentle discipline section soon. i'm seriously losing my mind.

(he almost seems to be having nightmares...with the way he wakes...)

eta: this has been going on for about two months...that's why i'm not sure if it's nightmares....who has chronic nightmares like that??

Does he have his molars and his incisors yet? Those were horrible for my DD, the molars took a few months to come in all the way, and pain relievers didn't seem to help her. I didn't realize how painful they were for her until they came in all the way and she FINALLY slept!

his molars are all the way in...only 1 incisor is in though...

Yeah I'm guessing teeth. Teeth hurt like crazy and kids get very agitated. you could always do what my parents did and put whiskey on your finger and put it in the babies mouth...but I wouldn't advise it

My DS (17 mos) wakes every hour too. Has since he was about 2 months old.

Incisors were bad for him too.. all four are in (the bottom two are about halfway up) and his sleep is still crap.

Hang in there.. I'm right there with you.
