Sippy cups - Page 3

"worried about the vessel . . ." ??? I can't think of a moment with either kid where I've worried about their sippy cups. It's just something to drink water out of.

It seemed there was worry about whether there was a lid or not????? I deeply apologize for the wording....

Why would you worry about that more than worrying about the top of any reusable bottle? We use reusable bottles for environmental reasons, and any reusable bottle needs some sort of top to keep water in. One is not more worry-inducing than the other.

You are completely right.

Yes, the water bottle is the key. So if I'm going to bring a water bottle to the park, it may as well be the Sigg with the lid that a toddler can work easiest. Right?

Maybe the difference is I'm thinking Kleen Knnteen or SIGG or nalgene with the easy spout top, and that's not what the discussion is about

It's pretty rare for us to use any kind of disposable water bottle. ETA: I like having separate water vessels. I'll share if I have to, but I've seen how messy ds' gulps can be. Ick

OP:
Nalgene sippy's are bpa-free and they hold up well

Personally, I would go with the klean kanteen. It's stainless steel which I prefer to the aluminium sigg. I used to worry that the lining would rupture when the bottle was dented and the water would come into contact with the aluminium.

I though all Nalgene bottles had bpa. They must have changed.

I bought every kind of stainless sippy for dd (kleen, sigg) and a bunch of bpa free plastic sippys, but she never got the hang of them, maybe because she's never used a bottle? I don't know...but what ended up working was some of those "disposable" bpa-free straw cups with lids that they sell at every grocery store. They've held up well over multiple washings, too.

Thanks for the thread. DS drives me nuts banging his sippy and getting liquid to fly out--for this reason (and his lack of interest), he is mostly given water, only juice sometimes (he refuses milk). The cups with the handles seem more tempting to throw and bang. This thread has also made me realize he really is ready for a cup at the table--I will give him a sippy to carry around--but I got him a straw cup after reading the posts just for fun and he is really enjoying it!
