Sound like there was interest to keep this IUI chat list going, so here is a jan& Feb one for us. Feel free to let me know what approximate dates you you have on your Schedule, whether they are IUI dates or testing dates and maybe let us know what number IUI this will be for you or if its your first.

I'm back at it again for IUI #2. Had my IUI (with clomid) on the 15th so I'm 5 DPO. And now we wait. Testing date depends on my willpower.

So I got my cross hairs, I know it seems strange but without a IUI this cycle, I don't even feel like I'm waiting for anything but AF. I know I should always have hope, I've just had so many cycles and so many disapointments.

Anyway I have a question, any sugestions on what I can do next cycle if it comes? I have been doing clomid and trigger, is femera better? Or something else?

I am looking for acupunturist, but just wondering if I can do more (in a reasonable way)

Adorkable I'm so sorry hun. I was following you all through last month, and I had so much hope for that BFP. But I have a good feeling about February for you- being that it's Valentine's Day and all
Stitches You have way too much willpower! Please pass some of it this way. (I tested everyday starting at 8dpo this cycle, and stopped at 11dpo) :

AFM- February will be my first Trigger/IUI cycle! 5 mg Femara + Ovidrel Trigger + IUI#1 in February sometime. Right now I'm 13dpo (last cycle was just 2.5mg Femara) and my temps are playing games, STUPID STUPID CHART but I KNOW I'm not PG. Expecting AF tomorrow sometime I hope! I'm very optimistic this cycle, but I know what optimism can do to us in this TTC game we play...

Anyway, GOOD LUCK GIRLS!

A lot of the ladies I talk to say that the Femara doesn't give them the horrible side effects, and it also *typically* doesn't cause as many cysts to form. You get good one two or three big follies, but not 12 useless ones. KWIM? I think it's worth a shot. How long have you been trying the Clomid?

Ah but at this point my resolve begins to erode. The first week is great, can't possibly know so no worries, right? But now, 7 DPO and I start to get antsy. The good part is I have no cheap tests available and I'm not going to pee on an expensive stick yet. I may change my mind in a few day tho!

how did you get a Dr to give you a blood test at 10dpo? mine makes me wait till 14 or if i get my own BFP

So we are not sure of the details quiet yet, but my DH may miss my next cycle. He may be headed to Haiti in the next few weeks. Nw of course i could be preggo right now but if i'm not, we need to tart thinking about what we plan to do for the next one. i do not know how long he will be gone, i may not know until way after he goes, and even when or if that is right now is completely up in the air still.

but i figured it might bring up some pretty big decisions so i should start now.

what can you ladies tell me about sperm banking, if there options or different things to consider?

I wasn't on a monitored cycle so when I went in for my P4 at 9dpo I asked for a Beta. The nurse kinda laughed, and said it's too early, but if I wanted one, I could have one. It was -. I figure if I haven't gotten a BFP by 13dpo, it's not likely, so I stopped testing (finally!) lol. It looks like the Femara lengthened my LP. By A LOT. Which is annoying since my stupid cycle was like 36 days last month. UGH!

YAY! How many dpo are you?? I don't know anything about sperm banking, but someone on another thread mentioned freezing it because her DH was going to be out of town when she was triggering. I think they handle that at the RE's office though? I'm not sure?? I wish I could help!! Here's hoping you won't need a next cycle though because you're pregnant right now!!!

AFM- Got the all clear on my baseline U/S yesterday! So I start my 5mg Femara today, and then go in for my follie scan on CD10! I'm so excited! This is my first follie scan ever. Hopefully there's a nice big one

I totally missed this thread! Hi Ladies.

I had an IUI on Sunday, Jan 24. I'm 3 DPO now, had a major temp drop this morning and am totally freaking out. I have a P4 test on Friday. This was a natural IUI. Next IUI if this doesn't work, will be medicated.

I have a question for you IUI ladies - how much does it cost? Does your insurance pay for any of it? How many IUI cycles does it typically take to get pregnant?

It really depends on where you go, If you go to a midwife it can be $190 however if you go to an RE it could be between $350 - $550. This is my experience. However, if you are taking medication and/or getting ultrasound monitoring, that figure can go up in the thousands.

In addition, if you are a hetero couple, you'll have to pay for washing of the "goods". (sorry, can't type that word where i'm at).

Re: Insurance. It depends on what insurance you have and what your dx is.

For me, I have to pay for the first 6 out of pocket and then after that it will be covered.

Some people are lucky and get pregnant on the 1st IUI, some have luck by the 3rd IUI, others by the 6th. Some RE's don't try more than 6 IUI's. But it really depends on what your particular problem is.

As far as I know, I have no fertility issues, and I ovulate on my own, however, I'm not in a hetero relationship, therefore, I have IUI's.

Try not to freak out too much about the temp drop (I know, easy for me to say right?!) It could have been anything! Maybe you slept extra well last night, or you were mouth breathing for a little while or something and didn't realize it. It will likely go back up tomorrow The P4 will tell you for sure- but it looks like your temps from your previous charts are pretty good, so I have a feeling it will look great. It could also be that you possibly O'd a little earlier and it's an implantation dip?! . Try not to stress too much mama- you need to stay calm and relaxed for that little eggy to get nice and comfy in there for the next 9 months!

PS- MISTRAL- I love your name- Do you read LK Hamilton?

This is my first one, my insurance has covered 100% of my previous treatments with the exception of co-pays so far, so I have no idea. Wish I could be of more help! Generally though, IUI is typically combined with meds (Femara, Clomid, Injectables) and a trigger shot to induce ovulation, so that you get better egg quality, drop your egg or eggs at the right time in your cycle (And when they're at the most mature) and have your best shot at getting pregnant. IUI without meds increases your chances by a bit as well (is it 6% I think?) but I see more women getting prego with the med/iui combination than without. Whatever you choose, GOOD LUCK!!!

Still playing the waiting game....I caved and tested on 10 and 11 dpo and of course it was negative and then I felt stupid because it was too early, but I was getting antsy. Anyway, got that out of my system and now I feel a bit better, currently 12 dpo and didn't test today. Going to try to hold out until 14 dpo. If only I was one of those ladies who could simply wait for her period to be late.

Nanette56 for you. I have un-monitored cycles, I'm always so curious to see what is actually going on in my ovaries. I'd be excited too!

rcr I live in Canada but fertility treatments aren't covered here. My IUI's are $260 a pop, plus the cost of OPK's and meds, and the costs are higher if you need monitoring. Luckily I have a great drug plan and they paid 100% of my clomid, so that was free!

adorkable did you find an acupuncturist?

Thanks for the responses - it sounds a lot more affordable than I thought. We suspect that DH has some fertility issues - we won't know for sure for a few more days, but I was just wondering if IUI is even an option for us due to the cost.

IUI is cheapish, it's IVF that costs an arm and a leg. I'm really, really hoping we don't have to go that route - if so, I would have to decide between IVF and putting a downpayment on a house.

my iui is not covered by insurance and cost 200 and that includes the sperm washing, any drugs and monitoring is covered and i get that at my RE the iui is done elsewhere in town. that is also why i would have to do sperm banking elsewhere if DH heads out of town.

i have not found a acupuncturist yet, i thought i did but they only work at the seattle clinic and i use the Tacoma one a hour away (but really close to me) since both things would have to be on the same day, two separated clinics that far apart would just not work. kinda happy about it since the lady sounded a bit loopy and hyper on the phone and i dont need that (i already supply enough loopy and hyper for myself!)

for me know i have to start thinking about "if and when" rather than "how" for a bit. looks like we might not know much at all about how long DH would be gone for and may not know much for sure till well into him being gone. if this turns int oa full deployment it brings up all the same issues i had about this before he left to iraq. i so dont want him to miss it all, but i also fell at 35 and 2 years TTC im running out of time and options.

For sure, if it were me I'd want an acupuncturist with calming energy, not hyper, that is the point, after all? Get it, the point? Sorry, that is my lame attempt at humor. Hopefully you do find someone who is the right fit.

So sorry things are up in the air for you right now with your DH's deployment. From everything you've written I think you sound like a strong lady, and I think taking it one day at a time, at a time like this, is an excellent attitude to have.

Well, January was another bust. CD1 and gearing up to do another cycle. If this one doesn't work we have to go back and re-do the testing, HSG etc. Now I'm second guessing myself for choosing to defer them this time, I feel like maybe we are missing something. Sigh.

so i called and found out about sperm storage today since it seems like dh could leave any day now (we still dont know anything, literally anything, starting to fray my nerves)

found out that it will cost $250 for each sample given to be washed and frozen and that includes 3 months storage. if we keep it for longer than that they all would be stored for a annual rate of 450 a year (can be prorated).

not great but also not super bad.

what seemed like a bigger issue is the feeling i had when finding out the info, i started to think that this may be the line i dont like crossing. it was one thing to do the fresh IUI, DH was right there in the waiting room and got to take me home and BD with me in person and it was easy to still feel really good about things.

this is starting to feel like i'm doing it without him. i just didn't think it was supposed to happen this way. I then start to feel the weight of my age and apparent fertility issues and waiting or wanting this to be just right seems a stupid fantasy.

this is really hard, and i think i'm starting to feel the full weight of being 11DPO
