Is this an indefinite potty pause?

How long is the average potty pause? Hmm, I guess that is going to vary greatly from one child to the next. Ever since about 2 weeks before DD started to walk she rarely goes on the potty anymore. And when she does, she poops, pretty much never pees (which I thought would be the other way around). This has been going on for more than 2 months now. I feel like all of the work both DD and I did up until this point was for nothing. Is this most likely just because she is so busy exploring her world? She'll sit on the potty about 1/2 the time with no problem (but doesn't eliminate), but the other 1/2 of the time she just wants to get up and go. Any advice?

this is about your feelings--like it wasn't worth it.

dude, you are catching POOP. sweet lord that is a blessing! poopy diapers are the WORST!

i completely wouldn't worry about it. you are (both) doing great. she's just excited about her new activity.

hawk is totally hit-or-miss when he's going through a milestone. it can be a couple of days to a couple of months without signals and with a lot of misses of all kinds.

the poit is not for everything to be perfect or to do this for some reason like "she'll be trained earlier" or something. just do it because you enjoy it, because it is what you want to do for your daughter, etc, etc, etc.

let go, be ok with the success you *are* having, and let the rest go. she'll come around when she's ready.

Thanks! I guess I just needed a reminder that it's about the communication and not about how often we are making catches. I just didn't think that it would last months, but she is out exploring her world so I guess that is all consuming for a wee one! Thanks!

My ds went through a similar stage. There was a light at the end of the tunnel. At the end of this "strike", he started cueing for potty consistantly. Allot changes when they learn to walk. Don't be afraid to change with them.

They vary in length, ours was several months in length! It is worth it to keep with it, and take a break or whatever if it's too frustrating. My dd totally surprised me a few months ago, after months and MONTHS of mostly misses.
