Can I tell you this wonderful story I heard about my DS today?

First of all, you should know that ever since DS was born, my biggest wish is that he grows up to be kind. I don't care if he's smart or handsome or athletic or anything like that.... I just want him to be the type of person that invites the new kid to sit with him at lunch and stands up for the kid being bullied on the playground.

Today at school I guess the kids were having sharing time and sitting in a circle and singing a song about a bee. And then they were passing a stuffed bee around so that everyone could have a chance to hold it. Being toddlers, of course, everyone wants to hold the bee, but that's the point of sharing time! They have to share it!

Well, one little boy named Daniel got his turn with the bee, but he didn't want to pass it on to the next guy when it was time. And my little Colin started "talking" to him. "Hey, Daniel, it's Marco's turn to hold the bee! Share! Pass the bee to Marco! It's ok!" (I put "talking" in quotes because, ummm.... DS doesn't actually use recognizable words yet, although he sure does chatter a lot and make his opinions known!)

He didn't try to get the bee for himself.... he didn't go and grab the bee out of Daniel's hand... he just stood up for poor Marco who wanted his turn with the bee! DS's teacher said it was the sweetest thing she's seen in a while.

As I type this up I realize it sounds kind of lame, but it warmed my heart that DS is turning out to be such a sweet little boy.

Too cute! Yesterday I caught DS singing 'You are my sunshine' to his 6 month old sister. I love those beautiful moments!
