Overheard a sad conversation

Thread Starter
My boss and her friend at my work were discussing how the friend recently had his son circumcised. He said that his wife told him it sounded like they were murdering her son in there and my boss said that there's a reason why they don't let parents in there. They both laughed about it and said oh well it's over and done with now.

WHY?????? I just don't understand why people insist on doing something to their helpless babies that they can't even bear to watch themselves.

I don't know why, but my doctor actually let me in the room when he did it to my son (before I knew better). Can't say I would ever let that happen again.

I have a theory that doctors who don't like doing circumcisions allow the parents to attend and doctors who want to keep the extra dough rolling in tell parents they can't watch.

I totally believe this. I had a few peds over the last few months tell me how glad they were that my son is intact and they hate doing them and want the parents to have to see them getting strapped in, a few have stopped the Dr.s just from getting strapped onto the board.

I think, for men at least, they have convinced themselves that it is necessary. So, if it really is best, (and it must be, their penis is THE BEST after all) then it HAS to be done. They can't show weakness, especially with other guys. Can't acknowledge any doubt, hurt, or fear they might feel. They don't bare their hearts to their buddies about erectile problems, or relationship issues. So they laugh about it. Like a failed rebound, an "evil" ex-girlfriend or vasectomies, it becomes fodder for jokes.

It breaks my heart that parents are okay with someone taking their baby behind closed doors and intentionally injuring them.

How sad that they were so nonchalant about it.
