postpartum overactive bladder anyone?

As an update to that post, I started meds last night, they didn't help at all. I'm really frustrated, it is keeping me up at night. Suppose I'm asking here to see if this is something that other MoMs have struggled with. Of course when I was pregnant I peed all. the. time. My ob/gyn wonders if this is just a muscle memory thing or if it actually is overactive bladder. I've wondered if organs were shifted around during pregnancy or during my c/s. If you don't feel like sharing this with the world, you can pm me.

i had an o/a bladder after both my kids. i kind of expected it though, because as a teenager i had chronic bladder/kidney infections and even kidney stones. unfortunately, i think this is just something some mamas deal with after birth, but most just don't talk about or take it as normal.

Would you say that two years pp would still be falling in the normal range?

Same here, was just mentioning to DH yesterday that from 1 yr postpartum to now (2.5 yr) not much change. But nowhere near as bad as it was.

unfortunately, for me, yes. doing kegels helps, but i've noticed i need about a year of pp healing before i can even start kegels without them making the urge-to-pee feeling worse. also, i am extra vigilant about emptying my bladder whenever i feel the urge, because i don't want to end up with a bladder or kidney infection. this may not be a concern for some mamas, but i've had so many of them that i just don't want another. they are painful, uncomfortable and i can't function when i have one.

I wouldn't say that I necessarily have to go more often than before having kids, but I cannot hold it. I used to be able to hold it all day long if needed (I often have to work under conditions that don't allow for me to use the restroom, that's a whole other story, though) now when I gotta go, I GOTTA GO!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering if I might have a prolapsed bladder to some degree. I find that I have a hard time emptying it fully that I didn't seem to have issues with pre-twins. Not exactly the same issue though. I've often wondered if I had organs shift around in there, too. How could you not with all that baby!?

I am not a multiples mama, but I saw your post and wanted to comment. If you are able to, try to consult with a urogynecologist for postpartum voiding issues. My gyn was very helpful but when she referred me to the urogyn, I got real expert advice. My particular problem was stress incontinence, but they help with all kinds of conditions. Hope that helps.
