High chair recommendations?

Thread Starter
I'm getting stiff feeding my 7 mo old on the floor while he's in his bouncer, so it's time to get him off the ground and up to table height for the sake of my creaking bones.

There are so many options for high chairs that I'm not sure what to look for, other than something that doesn't have too many nooks and crannies that make cleaning difficult, and something that you can adjust the height on.

I had been considering the Fisher Price Space Saver seat that attaches to your dining room chair, but not sure if it would be a good option. Plus, you can't adjust the height (how important is that?).

Thoughts on options that costs $100 or less and what you love or hate about your high chair?

We love ours!! They can be right at the table.

We skipped the high chair and went right to the booster seat (as all four of my nephews did). It's easier to clean, takes up less space, is portable, and lasts until they are ready to sit in a chair. He doesn't eat solids yet, but he already loves sitting in it!

This is the one we have: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-H...4088249&sr=8-1

I really like the IKEA Antilop high chair, it is inexpensive ($20 without the tray, $25 with the tray), can be pulled up to most tables without the tray, has a tray if you want one, and is very easy to clean.

We also have a Stokke Tripp Trapp which is a lot more expensive and I really like, since it grows with the child. The main problem I have with it is that DS decided he didn't want to use it anymore when DD started sitting in her high chair, so while we use it for DD, DS will have nothing to do with it, which is a bit disappointing since we bought so he could use it for years.

We love ours, too. DD always sits right at the table with us when we eat. Plus, it's easy to pack up and take with us if we're visiting family/friends. At Thanksgiving, all the kids were at the "kids' table" except DD - she had her seat right at the table with us!

I'm another one that has a high chair that attaches directly to the table/counter. We eat at an elevated bar so a standard high chair wasn't going to work for us. I really like the Phil and Ted's seat, it's SUPER light weight, sturdy and folds flat for transport. If you have a really solid table I think it's the best option. I got mine used on Ebay for $30 (including shipping).

Another vote for a "hook on" here. We were given a gorgeous classic wooden high chair but hardly ever used it, partly because it takes up too much space. I found an Inglesina hook on and it is perfect. It doesn't require as much under-the-table space (the bottom "arms" don't reach as far) so I could use it at my kitchen island.

Now DS is 14 mo and we still use it occasionally but he started to sit at his little table & chairs around 10 mos and prefers that now.

If you're rolling cash or have someone who might like to give it to you (thank you, Auntie F!) ... we love our Stokke Tripp Trapp. They can also be at the table, the chair is a beautiful piece of furniture, and it grows with the child. We LOVE it.

This Fisher-Price booster is what we have, in the red/khaki color, attached to one of our barstools. It's great. I wouldn't ever get a full sized high chair after trying this. We've also taken it out to restaurants. Perfect for tables and situations where a hook-on won't work. Very easy to clean, too.

Do NOT get this one:

way too many nooks & crannies to clean; bulky/does not really fold away
It is comfy & cute, but I'm sure you can find better.
this is height adjustable, but we always leave it at the height that fits our table, not too important imo

We have the stokke, My 3 year old still sits at his, and now we got another for the baby. I love that it looks like our dining room table and they feel like they are part of dinner and not in a separate corner.
