Tell me if this feta is safe...

The website for this brand of feta says it's made with pastuerized cow's milk... that makes it okay to eat right? It's the unpastuerized soft cheeses that are a no no?

I hope I'm right, I'm dying here with out my feta, blue cheese, or goat cheese!

Little Birdy, I enjoyed a spinach pesto pizza with feta cheese the other night. (And I had the leftovers for 2 days for lunch!)

I think if it's pasteurized, it's fine. Just be sure you know that you've stored it properly. IMO, feta is the least risky of the delicious soft cheeses. I could be totally wrong, but that's just my thought. everything in moderation, too.

enjoy!

I am having a hard time eating leafy veggies and I know if I made myself a little spinach/tomato/feta salad I would find it very tasty. I am going to give it a whirl!

yum. i have all of those things in my fridge right now (well, tom is on the counter) that would be delicious. again, as long as you're not eating the whole container, i'd say you're OK!

enjoy it! (i've been having trouble with the leafy greens as well.. hence the spinach pesto... throw 3c spinach and some basil into a blender with the other typical pesto ingredients, and then use on EVERYTHING. pizzas, wraps, pasta, dip for cheese bites... YUM.

Yes, if it's pasteurized, it's fine.

I'll admit to eating Brie throughout my pregnancies, though. : I also ate tuna in past pregnancies--although right now, no seafood is appealing. I just like living dangerously.

I think this article is interesting... pointing out the wide-variety of advice given to pregnant women around the globe

Ummm I missed that memo! I've been eating feta pretty much every day. Tomatoes, feta and spinach...my lifeline!

I was really paranoid with the first pregnancy, but with this one, I eat unpasteurized cheese and I'm not too worried about it. I've only had food poisoning a couple of times in my life and it's always been from cooked food in a restaurant. I've actually been craving lots of leafy green salads lately...mmm. I was thinking of getting sushi tonight too -- the raw kind!

That is the kind of feta I eat. Just FYI- if you can, get goats milk feta bc it is SOOOOO much tastier!!! not sure how safe it is in pregnancy though

Yeah, I like living on the edge too. I not only eat feta, I eat homemade feta from unpasteurized raw milk. I also drink a ton of the raw milk. I just don't think it's much of a health risk...
