No vaccines and daycare/preschool....what to do?

Hi all. Well its possible that I might start working again in the next couple months and I would need to find a daycare for my 19 month old (she will probably be 2 by the time I would start a job). Anyway, My mom seems to think it may be hard getting her into daycares or preschools without any vaccinations (shes not for me getting vaccines for her just letting me know). So, is there a way around this? Will a religious waiver work for most daycares and/or preschools? I do have a religious waiver for my son's school (hes in kindergarten) which is fine but I dont know how it works with daycares or preschools not affiliated with public schools... If anyone can give me any advice on this I would really appreciate it!

If the daycare/preschool accepts any federal funding they're required to accept your exemption. That includes daycare vouchers for low-income families, if they participate in a food program, etc.

It depends on your state law; google NVIC.

My DD was in daycare from age 6 mos-17 mos. I recall saying something like she had some allergies/sensitivities so we were taking a wait and see approach to vax, and I think my doctor was willing to sign a note to that effect (that we would be giving thought/consideration to vaxes in the "future"). The daycare just put it on file and were fine. Incidentally, my Dr. also wrote us a note saying that we were "allowed" to provide all of DD's food rather than them feeding her off their menu, and her "sensitivities" were also the reason we sent her CDs to daycare because I said sposies gave her a rash (which I'm sure they would have had we ever used them). Given that she now at age (almost) 7 does have a bunch of food allergies/sensitivities as well as sensitivities to a whole bunch of other things I'm really glad we were able to avoid all that stuff in DC.

As for preschool, I would imagine that most would accept whatever form of exemptions are fair game in your state, or at least you could find one that would.

Good luck to you!

Our church daycare would have to accept any waivers a public school does under our state laws. Ours says all schools have to accept religious and medical waivers. We do a religious.

Hi there fellow Fl mom I don't know. NVIC should have the state/state on what's required for school/daycare I think. Just from memory, an exemption or waiver should work. I remember my ped asking if I needed a waover if I was putting the kids in daycare. I wasn't, so it wasn't an issue for me.
